Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system base.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the base cover to the system base.
Using a plastic scribe or a flat head screwdriver, gently pry clips on the base cover to release them from the slots on the system base.Lift the base cover off the system base
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity
(WLAN) Wireless Module
Identify the wireless module highlighted in blue
Lift the flap covering the wireless module to access the bracket and screw (optional step - depends on configuration)
Remove the screw that secures the plastic tab
Release the plastic tab to access the wireless module cables
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white) from the connectors on the wireless module
Lift the wireless module from the connector on the system board
Solid State Drive 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue
Remove the screw that secures the solid state drive shield and solid state drive to the system base.
Peel off the solid state drive shield from the solid state drive.
Holding the sides of the module, slightly lift and pull out the SSD from the drive slot
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and lift the memory module up from connector on the system board
Rear I/O cover
Identify the rear I/O cover highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
Using a plastic scribe or a flat-head screwdriver, gently release the tabs that secure rear I/O cover to the system base.
Slide and remove the rear I/O cover from the system base.
Computer Base
Identify the computer base highlighted in blue and note cable routing
Unroute the antenna cables (black and white) from the routing guides on the computer base
Disconnect the tron light cable from the system board (left side).
Disconnect the tron light cable from the system board (right side).
Remove the screws that secure the tron light holder to the palm rest assembly
Remove the screws that secure the computer base to the palm rest assembly
Starting from left corner, use a plastic scribe or flat head screwdriver to gently pry the computer base off the palm rest assembly
Lift the computer base off the palm rest assembly
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery highlighted in blue
Disconnect the coin cell battery cable from the system board.
Peel off the tape that secures the coin cell battery cable to the system board.
Unroute the coin cell battery cable from the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
Gently peel off the coin cell battery along with its cable off the palm rest assembly. Note there may be some adhesive under the coin cell.
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue
Peel the tape that secures the I/O board cable to the I/O board.
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Turn the I/O board over
Disconnect the subwoofer cable
Lift the I/O board off the palm rest assembly
Subwoofer
Identify the subwoofer highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the subwoofer to the palm rest assembly
Lift the subwoofer along with its cable off the palm rest assembly
System Board Assembly
Turn the system over
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue
Peel the tape that secures the display cable to the system board.
Open the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board assembly
Disconnect the tobii eye tracker board cable from the system board assembly(optional step - depends on configuration)
Open the latch and disconnect the power button board cable from the system board assembly
Disconnect the logo board cable from the system board
Turn the system over
Open the latch and disconnect the macro keys backlight cable from the system board assembly
Open the latch and disconnect the macro keys cable from the system board assembly
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard backlight cable from the system board assembly
Open the latch and disconnect the keyboard cable from the system board assembly
Peel the tape to access the I/O board cable to the I/O board
Open the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from the I/O board
Open the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board assembly
Open the latch and disconnect the RGB per key keyboard cable from the system board assembly(optional step - depends on configuration)
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board assembly
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board assembly
Disconnect the coin cell battery cable from the system board assembly
Peel the tape that secures the coin cell battery cable to the system board assembly
Remove the screw that secures the USB Type C port bracket to the system board and lift the USB Type C port bracket off the system board
Remove the screws that secure the system board assembly to the palm rest assembly
Lift the system board assembly off the palm rest assembly
Power Connector Port
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly
Lift the battery off the palm rest assembly
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard bracket to the palm rest assembly
Lift the keyboard bracket off the palm rest assembly
Open the latch and disconnect the macro keys cable from the keyboard
Open the latch and disconnect the macro keys backlight cable from the keyboard
Peel off the macro keys cable from the keyboard
Peel off themacro keys backlight cable from the keyboard
Lift the keyboard at an angle and remove it from the tabs on the palm rest assembly
Macro Keys
Identify the macro keys highlighted in blue
Lift the macro keys at an angle, and release it from the tabs on the palm rest assembly
Install
Macro Keys
Identify the macro keys location highlighted in blue
Slide the macro keys under the tabs on the palm rest assembly
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue
Slide the keyboard under the tabs on the palm rest assembly
Slide the macro keys backlight cable to the connector on the keyboard. Close the latch to secure the cable
Slide the macro keys cable to the connector on the keyboard. Close the latch to secure the cable
Adhere the macro keys cable to the keyboard
Adhere the macro keys backlight cable to the keyboard
Align the screw holes on the keyboard bracket with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the keyboard bracket to the palm rest assembly
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue
Place the battery on the palm rest assembly, and align the screw holes on the battery with the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly
Power Connector Port
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue
Align the screw holes on the system board with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the system board assembly to the palm rest assembly
Align the screw hole on the USB Type C port bracket with the screw hole on the system board
Install the screw that secures the USB Type C port bracket to the system board
Slide the I/O board cable into the connector on the I/O board and close the latch to secure the cable
Adhere the tape that secures the I/O board cable to the I/O board
Slide the touchpad cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Insert the RGB per key keyboard cable into the connector and press down the latch to secure the cable(optional step - depends on configuration)
Connect the speaker cable to the system board
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board
Route the coin cell battery through the routing channel and adhere the tape to secure the cable
Connect the coin cell battery cable to the system board
Slide the keyboard cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Slide the keyboard backlight cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Slide the macro keys cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Slide the macro keys backlight cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Turn the system over
Connect the logo board cable to the system board
Slide the power button board cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Connect the tobii eye tracker board cable to the system board(optional step - depends on configuration)
Slide the display cable into the connector on the system board and close the latch to secure the cable
Adhere the tape that secures the display cable to the system board
Subwoofer
Identify the subwoofer highlighted in blue
Align the screw holes on the subwoofer with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the subwoofer to the palm rest assembly
I/O Board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue
Connect the subwoofer cable to the I/O board
Turn the I/O board over
Ensure the IO board is fully seated on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Slide the I/O board cable into the connector on the I/O board and close the latch to secure the cable.
Adhere the tape that secures the I/O board cable to the I/O board.
Coin Cell Battery
Identify the coin cell battery location highlighted in blue
Adhere the coin cell battery to the palm rest assembly.
Route the coin cell battery cable through the routing guide on the palm rest assembly.
Adhere the tape that secures the coin cell battery cable to the system board.
Connect the coin cell battery cable to the system board.
Computer Base
Identify the computer base location highlighted in blue
Align the screw holes on the computer base with the screw holes on the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the computer base to the palm rest assembly
Install the screws that secure the tron light holder to the palm rest assembly
Connect the tron light cables to the system board. (right side)
Connect the tron light cables to the system board. (left side)
Route the antenna cables (black and white) through the routing guides on the computer base.
Rear I/O cover
Identify the rear I/O cover location highlighted in blue
Slide the tabs on the rear I/O cover into the slots on the system base and snap the rear I/O cover into place.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the palm rest assembly.
Memory Modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Solid State Drive 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue
Align the notch on the SSD with the tab on the slot and slide the SSD into the slot.
Place the shield on top the SSD
Install the screw that secures both to the system base.
(WLAN) Wireless Module
Identify the wireless module location highlighted in blue
Lift the flap covering the wireless module to access the bracket and screw (optional step - depends on configuration)
Align the notch on the wireless module with the tab and slide the module at an angle into the slot
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle)
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle)
Slide the bracket onto the wireless anteanna module.
Align the screw holes and install the screw to secure the bracket and wireless module to the system board and close the flap.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue
Slide the tabs on the base cover into the slots on the system base and snap the base cover into place.
Tighten the captive screw that secures the base cover to the system base.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the system base.
