Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.
Pry open the base cover starting from the bottom right corner of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and push it towards the rear to remove it from the system.
SIM Card
Identify the SIM card highlighted in blue.
Slide to unlock and gently open the SIM card cover.
Remove the SIM card from the SIM card slot.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery at an angle and slide the battery out of the system.
Solid State Drive (SSD) Primary
Solid State Drive (SSD) Secondary
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Pry the securing clips from both side of the memory module until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot.
Memory Interposer Board
Identify the memory interposer board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the memory bracket to the memory interposer board.
Lift the memory bracket off the memory interposer board.
Remove the screws that secure the memory interposer board to the system board.
Remove the memory interposer board from the system board.
Remove the DIMM connecter module from the system board.
WLAN Card
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screw that secures the WLAN card bracket to the system board.
Remove the WLAN card bracket away from the WLAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN.
Slide and remove the WLAN card from the connector on the system board.
WWAN Card
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Peel the sticker indicating the WWAN antenna cable connections.
Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the system board.
Lift the WWAN card bracket from the WWAN card.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the connector on the WWAN card.
Slide and remove the WWAN card from its slot on the system board.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cables from the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the screws that secure the fans to the system.
Lift the heatsink assembly off the palm rest.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
GPU Card
Inner Frame
Identify the inner frame highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker and WLAN cables from the routing guide on the inner frame.
Remove the screws that secure the inner frame to the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the inner frame to the palm rest.
Remove the inner frame from the palm rest.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the display cable bracket on the system board.
Remove the display cable bracket from the system board.
Disconnect the display and power adapter cables from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Remove the system board assembly with coin cell from the palm rest.
Smart Card Reader
Identify the smart card reader highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the smart card reader FFC from the USH daughter board.
Peel the smart card reader FFC from the touchpad.
Remove the screws that secure the smart card reader to the palm rest.
Remove the smart card reader from the palm rest.
Install
Smart Card Reader
Identify the smart card reader location highlighted in blue.
Place the smart card reader into its slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the smart card reader to the palm rest.
Adhere the smart card reader FFC to the touchpad.
Connect the smart card reader FFC on the USH daughter board. Close the latch to secure.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Adhere the coin cell battery on the palmrest.
Turn and place the system board with coin cell on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Connect the display and power adapter cables to the system board.
Place the display cable bracket on the system board.
Install the screw that secures the display cable bracket on the system board.
Inner Frame
Identify the inner frame location highlighted in blue.
Place the inner frame on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the inner frame to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the inner frame to the system board.
Route the speaker and WLAN cables using the routing guide on the inner frame.
Connect the speaker cable on the system board.
GPU Card
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and place the heat sink assembly into its slot on the palm rest.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Install the screws to secure the fans to the system.
Connect the fan cables on the system board.
WWAN Card
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the WWAN card to its slot on the system board.
Connect the white/grey to the ANT0 (A0).
Connect the orange to the ANT1 (A1).
Connect the blue to the ANT2 (A2).
Connect the black/grey to the ANT3 (A3).
Install the WWAN card bracket above the WWAN card to secure the antenna cables.
Install the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket to the system board.
Adhere the sticker indicating the WWAN antenna cable connections.
WLAN Card
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WLAN antenna cables.
Tighten the screw that secures the WLAN card bracket to the system board.
Memory Interposer Board
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Place the DIMM connecter module on the system board.
Place the memory interposer board on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the memory interposer board to the system board.
Place the memory bracket on the memory interposer board.
Install the screws to secure the memory bracket to the memory interposer board.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the memory module slot.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Solid State Drive (SSD) Secondary
Solid State Drive (SSD) Primary
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tabs and place the battery onto its slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
SIM Card
Identify the SIM card location highlighted in blue.
Place the SIM card into the SIM card slot.
Snap the SIM card cover down and slide to lock the SIM card cover.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the computer.
