Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the computer.
Pry open the base cover starting from the bottom right corner of the base cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and push it towards the rear to remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the fan cables from the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board. Loosen in reverse order.
Remove the screws that secure the fans to the system.
Lift the heatsink assembly off the palm rest.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the power button board flexible flat cable (FFC) from the system board.
Peel the power button board FFC from the system.
Remove the screw that secures the power button board to the palm rest.
Remove the power button board from the palm rest.
Turn the system over.
Disconnect the power button board FFC from the power button board.
Power Button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button to the palm rest.
Remove the power button from the palm rest.
Install
Power Button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the power button into its slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the power button to the palm rest.
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board location highlighted in blue.
Connect the power button board FFC to the power button board.
Turn the system over.
Place the power button board with the power button FFC into its slot on the computer.
Install the screw to secure the power button board to the palm rest.
Adhere the power button board FFC to the system.
Connect the power button board flexible flat cable (FFC) to the system board.
Heat Sink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Align and place the heat sink assembly into its slot on the palm rest.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink to the system board. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Install the screws to secure the fans to the system.
Connect the fan cables on the system board.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the computer.
