Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Using a 1/4 inch flathead or a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
Lift the release latch until the system cover slides back.
Lift the system cover off the system.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
Hold the edges of the air shroud and lift it out of the system.
Cooling Fan Cage Assembly
Identify the cooling fan cage assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the blue release levers to unlock the cooling fan cage assembly from the system.
Hold the release levers and lift the cooling fan cage assembly away from the system.
Processor and Heatsink Module (PHM)
Identify the processor and heat sink module highlighted in blue.
Using a Torx #T30 screwdriver, In a diagonal sequence, loosen all 4 nuts 3 turns. Then repeat the sequence to completely loosen the nuts.
Set all the anti-tilt wires to the unlocked position (inward position).
Lift the PHM from the system and set it aside with the processor side facing up.
Processor
Position the processor and heatsink module (PHM) as shown in the AR.
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Using your thumb, lift the thermal interface material (TIM) break lever to release the processor from the TIM and retaining clip.
Holding the processor by its edges, lift it away from the retaining clip.
Using your thumb and index finger, first pull out the tip of the retaining clip release tab at the pin 1 connector, and then repeat the procedure at the remaining three corners.
After all the corners are released from the heat sink, lift the retaining clip from the pin 1 corner of the heat sink.
Using the alcohol pad, clean the thermal material from the heat sink.
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Align with the pin 1 indicator and place the retaining clip on top of the processor in the processor tray.
Use the thermal grease syringe included with your kit to apply the thermal grease in a thin spiral on the bottom of the heat sink.
Place the heat sink on the processor and press the base until the retaining clip locks onto it at all four corners.
Processor and Heatsink Module (PHM)
Identify the processor and heat sink module location highlighted in blue.
Set the anti tilt wires to the unlocked position on the heat sink (inward position).
Align the pin 1 indicator of the heat sink with the system board and then place the processor heat sink module (PHM) on the processor socket.
Set the anti-tilt wires to the locked position (outward position).
Using a Torx #T30 screwdriver, In a diagonal sequence, tighten all 4 nuts 3 turns. Then repeat the sequence to completely tighten the nuts.
Cooling Fan Cage Assembly
Identify the cooling fan cage assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align the guide rails and lower the cooling fan cage assembly into the system until it is seated firmly.
Lower the blue release lever and press to lock the cooling fan cage assembly into the system.
Air Shroud
Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
Align with the tab and lower the air shroud into the system until it is firmly seated.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system, then slide the cover into place.
Close the system cover release latch.
Using a 1/4 inch flathead or Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
