How to replace the System Memory on a PowerEdge XE7745

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the System Memory and a PowerEdge XE7745.

Removal

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
2. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock counterclockwise to the unlock position.
3. Lift the latch until the system cover slides back.
4. Hold the cover on both sides and lift it away from the system.

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
2. Hold the air shroud on both sides, then lift it out of the system.

System Memory

1. Select the system memory you want to replace.
2. To release system memory from the socket, press the ejectors on both ends of the socket simultaneously to fully open it.
3. Lift the system memory from the system.

Install

System Memory

1. Confirm the system memory that you want to replace.
2. Insert the system memory into the slot and press it down until it clicks into place.

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the air shroud with the standoff and lower it into the system until firmly seated.

System Cover

1. Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.
3. Close the system cover by pressing down on the release latch.
4. Using a Phillips #2 screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise to the locked position.
