How to replace the M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD) on a PowerEdge XE7745

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD) and a PowerEdge XE7745.

Removal

Front Bezel

1. Identify the front bezel highlighted in blue.
2. Press the release button and pull the left end of the front bezel.
3. Unhook the right end and remove the front bezel.

BOSS-N1 Card Carrier

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier highlighted in blue.
2. Pull and lift the BOSS-N1 card carrier retention latch to open it.
3. Slide the BOSS-N1 card carrier from the system.

M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD)

1. Position the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier as shown.
2. Identify the SSD highlighted in blue.
3. Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, loosen the screws that secure the top cover of the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier.
4. Tilt the top covers from the side and lift them off the BOSS-N1 DC-MHS card carrier.
5. Lift and slide to remove the SSD from the card carrier.

Install

M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD)

1. Identify the SSD location highlighted in blue.
2. Slide and insert the SSD until it is firmly seated in the BOSS N1 card carrier.
3. Flip and install the top cover on the BOSS N1 card carrier.
4. Using a Phillips #1 screwdriver, tighten the screws that secure the top cover to the BOSS N1 card carrier.

BOSS-N1 Card Carrier

1. Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier location highlighted in blue.
2. Slide the BOSS-N1 card carrier into the slot on the system.
3. Close the BOSS-N1 card carrier release latch to lock the carrier in place.

Front Bezel

1. Identify the front bezel location highlighted in blue.
2. Align and insert the tabs on the bezel into the slots on the system.
3. Press the bezel until the release button clicks into place.
