Removal
Left Side Cover
Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the screws that secure the side cover to the chassis.
Slide and lift the side cover from the chassis.
Front Cover
Identify the front cover highlighted in blue.
Pry and release the front cover tabs sequentially from the top.
Rotate the front cover outward and lift it from the chassis.
Rotation Bay Assembly
Identify the rotation bay assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the data and power cables from the hard drive.
Lift the rotation bay assembly at an angle to release the tabs from the chassis.
Slide and remove the rotation bay assembly from the chassis.
Fan Shroud
Identify the fan shroud highlighted in blue.
Pry and release the four securing tabs at the sides of the fan shroud.
Lift the fan shroud off the processor fan and heat sink assembly.
Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the processor fan cable from the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Loosen them in reverse order.
Lift the processor fan and heat sink assembly from the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heat sink as shown in the video.
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Push the release lever down and away from the processor to free it, then fully extend the lever.
Lift the processor cover completely.
Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.
Install
Processor
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue.
Ensure that the release lever and the processor cover are fully extended to the open position.
Align the notches on the processor with the tabs on the socket and place the processor on the socket.
Once the processor is fully seated, close the cover and push the lever down, securing it under the tab.
Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly
Identify the processor fan and heat sink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply paste or a pad included with the heatsink. Apply it in a spiral pattern.
Align the processor fan and heat sink assembly with the screw holes, then install it on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the processor fan and heat sink assembly to the system board. Tighten them in order. Do not overtighten.
Connect the processor fan cable to the system board.
Fan Shroud
Identify the fan shroud location highlighted in blue.
Align the fan shroud with the holes on the processor fan and heat sink assembly, and place it until the four securing tabs lock into place.
Rotation Bay Assembly
Identify the rotation bay assembly location highlighted in blue.
Slide and secure one side of the rotation bay assembly to the chassis.
Press down the other end of the rotation bay assembly, securing the tabs into the slots on the chassis.
Connect the data and power cables to the hard drive.
Front Cover
Identify the front cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and insert the front cover tabs into the slots on the right side of the chassis.
Rotate the front cover toward the chassis and press it into place.
Left Side Cover
Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
Align and slide the left side cover onto the chassis.
Tighten the screws that secure the side cover to the chassis.
