Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the basecover from bottom left to loosen.
Slide and lift the base cover off the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secure the battery cable to the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 20 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery to remove from the system.
Rotate the battery 180 degrees as shown, to access the battery cable port.
Unroute the battery cable from the slot on the battery.
Remove the battery cable latch from the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the battery.
SSD 2230
SSD 2280
Memory module
Identify the memory modules highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar to access the memory.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Small fan
Identify the small fan highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secures the fan cable.
Disconnect the small fan cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the small fan to the system.
Lift the small fan from the system.
Rear I/O Cover
Identify the rear I/O cover highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws on the back of the system that secure the rear I/O cover.
Disconnect the tron light cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the system.
Push the rear cover away from the system and lift it off the system.
Top heatsink
Identify the top heatsink highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the top heatsink.
Lift the top heatsink off the system.
Power adapter port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape, lift the metal latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Unroute the display cable from the power adapter port latch.
Remove the screws that secure the power adapter port bracket.
Remove the power adapter port bracket from the system.
Disconnect the power adapter port cable from the system board.
Lift the power adapter port and peel the cable from the system board.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the rear I/O board cable from the system board.
Peel the tape securing the rear I/O board cable to the system board.
Peel the tape, lift the metal latch and disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard controller board cable.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad and left I/O board cable from the system board.
Disconnect the right fan, two left fan and speaker cables from the system board.
Remove the screws and lift the type-C bracket off the system board on the back of the system.
Remove the screws that secure the audio board to the palmrest.
Loosen the screw that secure the left fan to palmrest.
Remove the screws that secure the system board.
Lift up the system board assembly away from the palmrest.
Keyboard controller board
Identify the keyboard controller board highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard controller board cable.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard controller board.
Lift the keyboard controller board off the system.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad bracket to the system.
Peel the tapes that secure the touchpad to the system.
Remove the touchpad bracket from the system.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad and keyboard controller board cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the system.
Lift the touchpad from the system.
USB type-C board
Identify the USB type-C board highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the I/O board cable from USB type-C board.
Remove the screws that secure the USB type-C board to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the USB type-C board shield from the left side of the palm rest assembly.
Lift the USB type-C I/O board from the palm rest assembly.
Speakers
Identify the speakers highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector.
Unroute and remove the speaker cable from the routing guides on the system.
Lift the speakers, along with the speaker cable, to remove. Lift from under the rubber grommets.
Antennas
Rotate the system and place it onto a clean, flat surface as shown.
Identify the antennas highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the antenna holder to the display assembly.
Remove the antenna holder from the display assembly.
Turn the computer over.
Peel the tapes that secures the antenna cables.
Remove the antenna cables from the routing guides on the system.
I/O board
Identify the I/O board highlighted in blue.
Peel the tape that secures the I/O board cable from the I/O board.
Lift the metal latch, and disconnect the I/O board cable from the I/O board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Lift the I/O board from the system.
Display Assembly
Rotate the system and place it onto a clean, flat surface as shown.
Identify the display assembly highlighted in blue.
Remove the display and camera cables from the routing guides on the display assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the top side of the system.
Lift the display assembly off the palmrest assembly.
Turn the computer over.
Power button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the power button cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the power button bracket.
Lift the power button bracket off the power button.
Peel the power button cable from the palm rest assembly.
Lift the power button, along with its cable, off the system.
Palm rest Assembly
After all the parts are removed, the palm rest assembly is remaining. No additional removals are needed.
Install
Palm rest Assembly
Identify the palm rest assembly highlighted in blue and place on a clean, flat surface.
Power button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the power button, along with its cable, into the slot on the palmrest.
Adhere the power button cable to the palm rest assembly.
Place the power button bracket on the power button.
Install the screws to secure the power button bracket.
Connect the power button cable, and close the latch to secure.
Display Assembly
Rotate the system and place it onto a clean, flat surface as shown.
Identify the display assembly location highlighted in blue.
Gently place the display assembly on the palm rest and align the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the left and right display hinges to the top side of the system.
Route the display and camera cables on the routing guides on the display assembly.
Turn the computer over.
I/O board
Identify the I/O board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the I/O board into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the I/O board to the system.
Connect the power button cable, and close the latch to secure.
Connect the I/O board cable to the I/O board and close the latch to secure.
Adhere the tape that secures the I/O board cable in the I/O board.
Antennas
Identify the antennas location highlighted in blue.
Route the antenna cables to the routing guides on the system.
Adhere the tapes that secures the antenna cables.
Turn the computer over.
Align and place the left and right antennas on the display assembly.
Install the screws that secure the left and right antennas to the system.
Turn the computer over.
Speakers
Identify the speaker location highlighted in blue.
Install the speakers in the slots on the system, using the alignment posts as a guide.
Route the speaker cable through the routing guides on the system.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
USB type-C board
Identify the USB type-C board location highlighted in blue.
Install the USB type-C board on the palm rest assembly.
Install the USB type-C shield on the left side of the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws to secure the USB type-C board to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the I/O board cable to USB type-C board and close the latch to secure the cable.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad panel location highlighted in blue.
Place the touchpad into the slot on the system.
Turn the computer over and open the display to ensure that the touchpad is equally aligned on all sides then close the display and turn the computer over.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad to the system.
Connect the touchpad and keyboard controller board cables and close the latch to secure.
Install the touchpad bracket over the touchpad.
Install the screws to secure the touchpad bracket to the system.
Adhere the tapes that secure the touchpad to the system.
Keyboard controller board
Identify the keyboard controller board location highlighted in blue.
Place the keyboard controller board into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the keyboard controller board.
Connect the keyboard controller board cable. Close the latch to secure.
System Board Assembly
Ensure that the palmrest assembly is placed face down.
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board assembly on the palm rest, using the alignment posts.
Install the screws that secure the system board.
Tighten the screw that secure the left fan to palmrest.
Install the screws that secures the audio board to the palmrest.
Place the type-C bracket on the back of the system and Install the screws that secure the type-C bracket.
Connect the right fan, two left fan and speaker cables to the system board.
Connect the touchpad and left I/O board cable, and close the latch to secure.
Connect the keyboard controller board cable. Close the latch to secure.
Connect the camera cable to the system board and close the latch. Adhere the tape to secure.
Connect the rear I/O board cable through the routing on the fan and palmrest and keyboard assembly.
Adhere the tape securing the rear I/O board cable to the system board.
Power adapter port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Install the power adapter port into the slot and adhere the cable to the system board.
Connect the power adapter port cable to the system board.
Install the bracket over the system.
Install the screws to secure the power adapter port bracket.
Route the display cable through the power adapter port latch.
Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure. Adhere the tape to secure.
Top heatsink
Identify the top heatsink location highlighted in blue.
Place the top heatsink on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the top heatsink.
Rear I/O Cover
Identify the rear I/O cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the rear cover towards the system till it snaps into place.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover to the system.
Connect the tron light cable to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the rear I/O cover on the back of the system.
Small fan
Identify the small fan location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the small fan into the slot on the system.
Install the screws that secure the small fan to the system.
Connect the small fan cable to the system board.
Adhere the tape to secure the fan cable.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Memory module
Identify the memory modules location highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar to access the memory slot.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.

Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery cable into the battery.
Install the latch to secure the battery cable with battery.
Route the battery cable in to the slot on the battery.
Rotate the battery 180 degrees as shown, to install the battery on the palm rest.
Using the alignment posts, place the battery on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue
Slide and align the base cover and press the edges of the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
Install the screws that secure the base cover.
