How to replace the System Memory on a Poweredge R740 XD 25X24

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the System Memory and a Poweredge R740 XD 25X24. The procedure will also include removing the System Cover, Cooling shroud & Middrive tray and reinstalling them.

Removal

System Cover

Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.

Using a flat head or a Phillips screwdriver, rotate the lock counter clockwise.

Lift the latch till the system cover slides back.

Hold the cover on both sides, and lift the cover away from the system.

Cooling shroud & Middrive tray

System Memory

Select the system memory you want to replace

To release the memory module from the socket, simultaneously press the ejectors on both ends of the socket.

Lift and remove the memory module from the system.

Install

System Memory

Confirm the system memory you want to replace.

Align the edge connector of memory module with the alignment key of the memory module socket, and insert into the socket.

Press the memory module until the socket levers firmly click into place.

System Cover

Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue.

Align the tabs on the system cover with the guide slots on the system.

Push the system cover latch down.

Using a flat head or Phillips screwdriver, rotate the lock clockwise.
