How to replace the SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230 on a Precision 3580

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230 and a Precision 3580. The procedure will also include removing the Base Cover and reinstalling them.

Removal

Base Cover

Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.

Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.

Pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.

Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.

SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230

Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.

Remove the screws that secures the SSD bracket to the system board.

Remove the SSD bracket off the system.

Remove the screw(s) that secures the SSD to the SSD holder.

Slide to remove the SSD from the system. The blue holder is loose and may come out upon removal.

Install

SSD (Solid State Drive) 2230

Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.

Align and slide the SSD into the slot on the system board. Install the blue holder if needed.

Install the screw that secures the SSD to the SSD holder. Ensure the blue holder is in place before securing.

Align the screw holes on the SSD bracket with the screw holes on the system.

Install the screws to secure the SSD bracket to the system.

Base Cover

Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.

Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.

Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
