Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery out of the system.
Turn the battery over.
Peel the tapes that adheres the battery cable to the battery.
Remove the battery cable from the routing guides on the battery.
Disconnect the battery cable from the connector on the battery.
Remove the battery cable away from the battery.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Slide and remove the WLAN card from the connector.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker cable from the chassis frame.
Disconnect the fan cable from the connector on the system board.
Remove the fan cable from the routing guides.
Loosen the screw that secures the chassis frame and optional fingerprint bracket.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Lift to remove the chassis frame.
Fingerprint Reader
Identify the fingerprint reader highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the fingerprint reader cable from the connector on the USH board.
Move the fingerprint reader cable away so it is not covering the fingerprint reader.
Remove the screw that secures the fingerprint reader bracket to the palm rest assembly.
Slide and remove the fingerprint reader bracket from the palm rest assembly.
Lift the fingerprint reader, along with its cable, off the palm rest assembly.
Install
Fingerprint Reader
Identify the fingerprint reader location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the fingerprint reader on its slot on the palm rest assembly.
Slide the fingerprint reader bracket on its slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screw that secure the power button to the system.
Connect the fingerprint reader cable to the connector on the USH board and close the latch.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the chassis frame on the system chassis.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Tighten the screw that secures the chassis frame and optional fingerprint bracket.
Route the fan cable through the routing guides.
Connect the fan cable to the connector on the system board.
Route the speaker cable along the chassis frame.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Wireless Module (WWAN)
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN card bracket.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the battery.
Route the battery cable through the routing guides on the battery.
Adhere the tapes that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the battery in place.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
