Processor and Heatsink Module (PHM)
Select the processor and heat sink module you want to replace.
Using a Torx #T30 screwdriver, Loosen the first and diagnally opposite(2nd) after that loosen the third and diagnally opposite(4th) screws three turns.
Loosen the captive screws 1 and 2 completely. After that loosen the captive screws 3 and 4 completely.
Set all the anti-tilt wires to unlocked position (inward position).
Lift the PHM from the system and set the PHM aside with the processor side facing up.
If you are using an existing heat sink, remove the thermal grease on the heat sink by using a clean lint-free cloth.
Processor
Place the heatsink with the processor side facing up.
Identify the processor highlighted in blue.
Using your thumb, lift the thermal interface material (TIM) break lever to release the processor from the TIM and retaining clip.
Holding the processor by the edges, lift the processor away from the retaining clip.
Using your thumb and index finger, first hold the retaining clip release tab at the pin 1 connector, pull out the tip of the clip release tab, and then lift the retaining clip partially.
After all the corners are released from the heatsink, lift the retaining clip from the pin 1 corner of the heatsink.
Remove the thermal grease on the heat sink by using a clean lint-free cloth.
Install
Processor
Place the heatsink with the processor side facing up.
Identify the process location highlighted in blue.
Align the retaining clip with the processor.
Place the retaining clip on top of the processor in the processor tray aligning pin 1 indicator on the processor.
Align the processor with retaining clip, by using your fingers press the retaining clip on all the four sides until it clicks into place.
Use the thermal grease syringe included with your kit to apply the grease in a thin spiral on the bottom of the heat sink or For new heat sink, remove the Thermal Interface Material (TIM) protective film from the base of heat sink.
Place the processor assembly on the heatsink and press the base of the heatsink until the retaining clip locks at all the four corners.
Place the heatsink with the processor side facing downwards.
