How to replace the Memory Fan on a Precision 7875 Tower

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the Memory Fan and a Precision 7875 Tower. The procedure will also include removing the Side Cover, Air Shroud, Memory Fan Assembly and reinstalling them.

Removal

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover highlighted in blue.
2. Unlock the side panel latch using a Phillips screwdriver.
3. Press to open the latch of the side cover. Pull the release latch to release the side cover from the chassis.
4. Open the side cover at an angle and lift the cover away from the chassis.

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud highlighted in blue.
2. Hold the top air shroud at the grip points and pull it upwards out of the chassis.

Memory Fan Assembly

1. Place the air shroud assembly on the flat and clean surface.
2. Identify the memory fan assembly highlighted in blue.
3. Disconnect the memory fan cables from the memory fan dongle connectors.
4. Press down and slide the memory fan dongle to release it from its grooves.
5. Unroute the memory fan dongle cable from the routing clip.
6. Slide and remove the memory fan dongle cable from the air shroud.
7. Remove the screws that secure the memory fan assembly to the air shroud.
8. Unroute the memory fan cables from the routing clip.
9. Remove the memory fan assembly out of its slot from the air shroud.

Memory Fan

1. Place the memory fan assembly on the flat and clean surface.
2. Identify the memory fan highlighted in blue.
3. Unroute the FAN DDR0 and FAN DDR1 cables from the routing guide on the fan assembly.
4. Gently pull the rubber grommets inwards to release the fan from the fan cage.
5. Remove the fan from the fan cage.
6. Gently pull the rubber grommets out from the memory fan.

Install

Memory Fan

1. Identify the memory fan assembly location highlighted in blue.
2. Gently push the rubber grommets into the memory fan.
3. Align and place the memory fan into the fan cage.
4. Gently push the rubber grommets through the slots on the fan and pull the rubber grommets until the grommets snaps into position.
5. Route the FAN DDR0 and FAN DDR1 cables through the routing guide on the fan assembly.

Memory Fan Assembly

1. Place the air shroud assembly on the flat and clean surface.
2. Identify the memory fan assembly location highlighted in blue.
3. Align and place the memory fan assembly into its slot in the air shroud.
4. Install the screws to secure the memory fan assembly to the chassis.
5. Route the memory fan cables to the routing clip.
6. Install the memory fan dongle cable from the air shroud.
7. Route the memory fan dongle cable to the routing clip.
8. Slide the memory fan dongle to hold it in its grooves.
9. Connect the memory fan cables to the connectors on the dongle.

Air Shroud

1. Identify the air shroud location highlighted in blue.
2. Install the air shroud and press the top air shroud down until the tabs click into place.

Side Cover

1. Identify the side cover location highlighted in blue.
2. Align the tabs with the slots and install the side cover on the chassis.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, turn the side panel latch to the locked position.
