Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Using a plastic scribe, pry the base cover from the recesses located near the hinges.
Remove the base cover by loosening the sides and front.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery out of the system.
Memory modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
SSD
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Lift to remove the WLAN from the connector. There may be an adhesive pad holding the WLAN.
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket
Slide and remove the WWAN card bracket off the WWAN card
Using a plastic scribe, disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN. Note the cable connections.
Slide to remove the WWAN from the connector.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Unroute the antenna cables from the routing guides
Disconnect the speaker cable and unroute it from the chassis frame. Note the routing.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Lift the chassis frame away from the system chassis.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Lift the display/eDP bracket away from the system.
Pull the tab upwards to disconnect the display cable from the connector on the system board.
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch to disconnect the LED board cable.
Peel LED cable off the coin cell.
Peel the RTC / coin cell battery from the palm rest.
Remove the screws that secure the system fan.
Remove the screws securing the Type-C USB bracket to the system board.
Remove the USB Type-C bracket from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Tilt and lift the system board assembly to remove. The USB-C port needs to clear the chassis.
Power button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button.
Lift the power button from the system.
Install
Power button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Install the power button into the slot on the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the power button.
System board assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the system board on the palm rest.
Route the coin cell cable under the system board and adhere to the palm rest.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the USB Type-C bracket from the system board.
Install the screws securing the Type-C USB bracket to the system board.
Install the screws that secure the system fan.
Adhere LED cable to the RTC / coin cell battery.
Connect the LED board cable and Close the latch to secure.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables location highlighted in blue.
Connect the display cable to the connector on the system board.
Install the display/eDP support bracket.
Install the screws to secure the eDP bracket to the system board.
Chassis Frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Install the chassis frame and align the screw holes. Ensure speaker cable is routed over the frame.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Route the speaker cable through the guides and connect it to the system board.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides on the chassis frame.
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the WWAN antenna cables.
Install the screw to secure the WWAN card bracket
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN card bracket.
SSD
Memory modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Install the screws that secure the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Push down to connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Install the base cover and press the edges and sides until it snaps into place.
Tighten the screws to secure the base cover to the system.
