Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover.
Pry the base cover near the hinges to release it from the system.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Using the pull tab, lift up to disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the battery.
Lift the battery out of the system.
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) highlighted in blue.
Lift the WWAN card shield off the WWAN card.
Remove the screw that secures the WWAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket that secures the WWAN antenna cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables from the WWAN.
Remove the WWAN card from the connector on the system board.
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screw that secures the WLAN card bracket.
Remove the bracket to access the WLAN cables.
Disconnect the antenna cables (black and white cables) from the WLAN.
Slide and remove the WLAN card from the connector.
Memory modules
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Using your fingertips, carefully spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Hold the edges and carefully lift the memory module up from connector on the system board.
SSD 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the SSD bracket on the system board.
Lift the solid state drive thermal shield off the system.
Slide and lift the solid state drive off the system.
Fan
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink assembly highlighted in blue.
Unroute the antenna cables from the routing guides. (WWAN models only).
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heatsink. Loosen in reverse order.
Lift the heat sink off the system board.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the heatsink (as shown in the video).
Chassis frame
Identify the chassis frame highlighted in blue.
Unroute the antenna cables from the guides on the frame.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the system board.
Unroute the speaker cable from the chassis frame.
Remove the screws that secure the chassis frame to the system.
Lift to remove the chassis frame.
Display Cables
Identify the display cables highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Lift the display cable bracket off the palm rest assembly.
Disconnect the display cable from the system board.
SIM card tray
Identify the SIM card tray highlighted in blue.
Insert and push the pin into the release hole to release the SIM card tray.
Slide the SIM card tray out of the slot on the computer.
System board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the Type-C bracket.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Lift the system board off the palm rest assembly.
Install
System board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the system board into the slot, ensuring to clear the Type-C ports.
Install the screws that secure the system board to the palm rest.
Install the screws that secure the Type-C port bracket.
SIM card tray
Identify the SIM card tray location highlighted in blue.
Slide the SIM card tray into the slot in the computer, and push it to lock in place
Display Cables
Identify the display cables location highlighted in blue.
Connect the display to the system board.
Place the display cable bracket over the display cable.
Install the screws to secure the display cable bracket to the system board.
Chassis frame
Identify the chassis frame location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the chassis frame on the system chassis.
Install the screws to secure the chassis frame to the system.
Route the speaker cable along the chassis frame.
Connect the speaker cable to the system board.
Route the antenna cables through guides on the frame.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink assembly location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown.
Install the heatsink assembly into the slot on the system board.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the heat sink. Tighten in order. Do not over tighten.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides. (WWAN models only).
Fan
SSD 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Slide the SSD into the slot on the system board.
Align the screw holes on the solid state drive bracket with the screw holes on the system board.
Install the screws to secure the SSD bracket to the system board.
Memory modules
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
WLAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WLAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WLAN into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Tighten the captive screw to secure the WLAN card bracket.
WWAN (Wireless Module)
Identify the wireless module (WWAN) location highlighted in blue.
Insert the WWAN card into the connector on the system board.
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary (black triangle).
Connect the white cable to the main (white triangle).
Install the bracket to secure the antenna cables.
Install the screw to secure the WWAN card bracket.
Align and place the WWAN card shield over the 4G WWAN card.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Install the battery into the slot on the system, aligning the screw holes.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the battery in place.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Align the base cover tabs to the slots, press the cover until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system.
