Removal
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the system
Using a plastic scribe, pry open the base cover starting from bottom edge of the cover.
Lift the base cover starting from the bottom edge and remove it from the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the system.
Lift the battery from the system.
Wireless Module (WLAN)
Wireless Module (WWAN)
SSD Primary
SSD module
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) module highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the SSD module into the system.
Slide the SSD release latch to unlock the SSD module.
Slide to remove the SSD module from the system.
Heat sink assembly
Identify the heat sink assembly highlighted in blue.
Peel the power adapter cable from the heat sink assembly.
Disconnect the two fan cables from the connectors on the system board.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the heat sink assembly. Loosen in order.
Lift the heat sink assembly to remove it from the system.
Use the alcohol pad to clean the thermal paste from the system board and heatsink (as shown in the video).
Inner frame
Identify the inner frame highlighted in blue.
Unroute the wireless module cables (WLAN and WWAN - optional) from the routing guide.
Disconnect the fan cables and the power adapter port cable.
Remove the screws that secure the inner frame to the system chassis.
Remove the screws that secure the inner frame to the system chassis.
Remove the inner frame from the system.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Turn the system over and open the display.
Identify the keyboard highlighted in blue.
Using a plastic scribe or flat head screwdriver, gently pry the keyboard trim from the edges and lift away from system.
Remove the screws that secure the keyboard to the system.
Pry the keyboard from the edges and lift the keyboard with the cable(s) from the system.
Memory (Primary)
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue
Remove the screw that secures the memory shield in place.
Lift the memory shield to remove it from the system.
Pry the securing clips from both sides of the memory module until the memory module pops up.
Remove the memory module from the memory module slot
System board
Identify the system board highlighted in blue.
Turn the system over.
Remove the screw that secures the display cable bracket.
Remove the display cable bracket from the system.
Remove the screws that secure the beam connectors (may vary depending on the system)
Remove the beam connector(s) from the system. There may be 1-3 connectors.
Remove the screws that secure the system board to the system.
Pry the coin cell battery, located under the system board, from the palmrest while lifting the system board.
Remove the system board and the coin cell from the system.
GPU card
Identify the GPU card highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the GPU card to the palmrest.
Remove the GPU card from the system.
Install
GPU card
Identify the GPU card location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the GPU card into its slot on the palmrest.
Install the screws to secure the GPU card to the palmrest.
System board
Identify the system board location highlighted in blue.
Install the system board into the slot on the system.
Adhere the coin cell battery to the slot on the palmrest.
Install the screws to secure the system board to the palmrest.
Install the FPC beam connector(s) to the system board. There may be 1-3 connectors.
Install the screws that secure the beam connectors (may vary depending on the system)
Remove the display cable bracket from the system.
Install the screw that secures the display cable bracket.
Turn the system over and open the display.
Memory (Primary)
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Align the notch on the memory module with the tab on the slot and slide the memory into the slot at an angle.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Install the memory shield above the memory module.
Install the screw to secure the memory shield.
Keyboard
Identify the keyboard location highlighted in blue.
Install the keyboard and route the keyboard cable(s) through the placeholder.
Install the screws to secure the keyboard to the system.
Install the keyboard trim and press along the edges and in between keys until it clicks into place.
Close the display and turn the the system over.
Inner frame
Identify the inner frame location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the inner frame in the system chassis.
Install the screws to secure the inner frame in place.
Install the screws to secure the inner frame in place.
Route the wireless module cables (WLAN and WWAN - optional) through the routing guide.
Connect the fan cables and the power adapter port cable.
Heat sink assembly
Identify the heat sink location highlighted in blue.
Apply a pea sized amount of thermal material as shown. Replace thermal pads if needed.
Align and insert the heat sink assembly into its slot on the system.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the heat sink assembly. Tighten in order.
Connect the two fan cables to the connector on the system board.
Adhere the power adapter cable on the heat sink assembly.
SSD module
Identify the SSD module location highlighted in blue.
Install the SSD module into its slot on the system.
Slide the SSD release latch to lock the SSD module.
Install the screw to secure the SSD module in place.

Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Insert the battery into the slot on the system.
Install the screws to secure the battery to the system.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the connector on the system board.
Base Cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide the base cover into its slot until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws to secure the base cover to the system.
