Removal
Base cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Use a scribe to pry open the base cover near the captive screws, then continue working along the sides.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Peel the tape to access the battery cable connector.
Push the switch upward on the battery cable connector to the OFF position to disconnect power from the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Identify the battery highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the battery from the palm rest assembly.
Peel the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Peel the tape to access the battery cable connector on the battery.
Peel the battery cable from the battery.
Disconnect and remove the battery cable from the battery.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar from the memory module.
Using your fingertips, spread apart the securing clips on each end until the memory module pops up.
Slide and remove the memory module from its slot on the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the thermal shield to the system.
Remove the thermal shield from the SSD.
Slide and remove the SSD from the SSD slot.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the thermal shield to the system.
Remove the thermal shield from the SSD.
Slide and remove the SSD from the SSD slot.
Wireless Card
Identify the wireless card highlighted in blue.
Peel off the mylar to access the wireless card.
Remove the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
Lift the wireless card bracket from the WLAN card.
Disconnect the WLAN antenna cables from the WLAN card.
Slide and remove the wireless card from the system board.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the power adapter cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the power adapter port bracket to the system.
Lift the power adapter port bracket off the power adapter port.
Peel the cable and lift the power adapter port from the palm rest assembly.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the system.
Lift the type-C bracket from the system board.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable highlighted in blue.
Open the latch and disconnect the display cable from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the camera cable from the system board.
Remove the display and camera cables away from the palm rest assembly.
Remove the antenna cables from the routing guides on the side of the left fan and the system board.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad and power button cables from the system board.
Lift the latch and disconnect the keyboard and keyboard controller board cables from the system board.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the I/O board.
Remove the screws that secure the system board and I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the left and right fan to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the system board assembly from the palm rest assembly.
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the power button board to the palm rest assembly.
Peel the power button cable from the palm rest assembly.
Lift the power button board and its cable from the palm rest assembly.
Power Button
Identify the power button highlighted in blue.
Remove the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the power button from the palm rest assembly.
Install
Power Button
Identify the power button location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the power button into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screw that secures the power button to the palm rest assembly.
Power Button Board
Identify the power button board location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the power button board into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Adhere the power button cable to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the power button board to the palm rest assembly.
System Board Assembly
Identify the system board assembly location highlighted in blue.
Using the alignment posts, place the system board assembly onto the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the left and right fan to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the system board and I/O board to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the speaker cable to the I/O board.
Connect the keyboard and keyboard controller board cables to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Connect the touchpad and power button cables to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Display Cable
Identify the display cable location highlighted in blue.
Route the antenna cables through the routing guides on the side of the left fan and the system board.
Route the display and camera cables through the palm rest assembly.
Connect the camera cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Connect the display cable to the system board and close the latch to secure.
Type-C Bracket
Identify the type-C bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the type-C bracket on the system board.
Install the screws that secure the type-C bracket to the system.
Power Adapter Port
Identify the power adapter port location highlighted in blue.
Connect the power adapter cable to the system board.
Place the power adapter port into the palm rest assembly.
Align and place the power adapter port bracket on the power adapter port.
Install the screws that secure the power adapter port bracket to the system.
Wireless Card
Identify the wireless card location highlighted in blue.
Slide and install the wireless card into the slot on the system board.
Connect the white cable to the main. (white triangle)
Connect the black cable to the auxiliary. (black triangle)
Install the wireless card bracket onto the wireless card.
Install the screw that secures the wireless card bracket to the system board.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2280
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the SSD into the SSD slot.
Align and place the SSD thermal shield on the SSD.
Install the screws that secure the thermal shield to the system.
Solid State Drive (SSD) 2230
Identify the solid state drive (SSD) location highlighted in blue.
Slide and place the SSD into the SSD slot.
Align and place the SSD thermal shield on the SSD.
Install the screws that secure the thermal shield to the system.
Memory Module
Identify the memory module location highlighted in blue.
Lift the mylar from the memory module bracket.
Slide the memory module into the slot on the system board.
Press the memory module down until it clicks into place.
Battery
Identify the battery location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the battery.
Adhere the battery cable along the guidelines on the battery.
Adhere the tape that secures the battery cable connector to the battery.
Turn the battery over.
Adhere the tape that secures the battery cable to the battery.
Using the alignment posts, install the battery on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the battery to the palm rest assembly.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide down the switch on the battery cable connector to restore power from the battery.
Align and place the base cover, then press along the edges until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
