Removal
System Cover
Identify the system cover highlighted in blue.
Rotate the latch release lock counter clockwise to the unlocked position.
Open the latch on the system cover
Slide system cover toward the back and using the latch lift system cover up from system.
Cooling Shroud
Identify the cooling shroud highlighted in blue
Holding the touch points, lift the cooling shroud away from the system.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink highlighted in blue
Loosen one of the captive screws that secure the heat sink to the system board.
Allow some time (approximately 30 seconds) for the heat sink to loosen from the processor.
Remove the screw diagonally opposite to the screw that you first loosened.
Repeat step 2 and 3 for loosening the remaining two screws.
Remove the heat sink
Remove the thermal grease from the heat sink and processor by using the alcohol wipe provided
Processor
Identify the processor highlighted in blue
Release the open first socket lever near the unlock icon by pushing the lever down and out from under the tab.
Release the close first socket release lever near the lock icon by pushing the lever down and out from under the tab.
Lower the open first socket-release lever to lift the processor shield.
Hold the tab on the processor shield and lift the processor shield until the open first socket-release lever lifts up.
Lift the processor out of the socket and leave the open first socket-release lever up.
Install
Processor
Unpack the new processor.
Identify the processor location highlighted in blue
Align the pin-1 triangle indicator on the processor with the triangle on the system board, carefully place the processor in the socket.
Close the processor shield.
Lower the 'close first' socket-release lever near the lock icon and push it under the tab to lock it.
Similarly, lower the 'open first' socket-release lever near the unlock icon and push it under the tab to lock it.
Heatsink
Identify the heatsink location highlighted in blue
Use the thermal grease syringe included with your processor kit to apply the grease in a thin spiral on the top of the processor.
Place the heat sink onto the processor.
Tighten the four screws to secure the heat sink to the system board in a diagonal pattern
Cooling Shroud
Identify the cooling shroud location highlighted in blue
Align the tabs on the cooling shroud with securing slots on the system, then lower the cooling shroud into the system until firmly seated.
System Cover
Identify the system cover location highlighted in blue
Align the slots on the system cover with the tabs on the system.
Push the system cover latch down. The system cover slides forward and the slots on the system cover engage with the tabs on the system.
Rotate the latch release lock clockwise to the locked position.
