Removal
Base cover
Identify the base cover highlighted in blue.
Loosen the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Use a scribe to pry open the base cover near the captive screws, then continue working along the sides.
Lift the base cover off the palm rest assembly.
Peel the tape to access the battery cable connector.
Push the switch upward on the battery cable connector to the OFF position to disconnect power from the battery.
Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable highlighted in blue.
Disconnect the battery cable from the system board.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds to ground the system and remove residual static electricity.
Battery
Battery Bracket
Identify the battery bracket highlighted in blue.
Remove the screws that secure the battery brackets to the system.
Remove the battery brackets from the palm rest assembly.
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad highlighted in blue.
Lift the latch and disconnect the touchpad cable from the system board.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad support plate to the palm rest assembly.
Remove the touchpad support plate from the palm rest assembly.
Remove the screws that secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Lift the touchpad and its cable from the palm rest assembly.
Install
Touchpad
Identify the touchpad location highlighted in blue.
At an angle, slide the touchpad along with its cable into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the touchpad to the palm rest assembly.
Place the touchpad support plate on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the touchpad support plate to the palm rest assembly.
Connect the touchpad cable to the system board and close the latch to secure it.
Battery Bracket
Identify the battery bracket location highlighted in blue.
Align and place the battery brackets into the slot on the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the battery brackets to the system.

Battery Cable
Identify the battery cable location highlighted in blue.
Connect the battery cable to the system board.
Base cover
Identify the base cover location highlighted in blue.
Slide down the switch on the battery cable connector to restore power from the battery.
Align and place the base cover, then press along the edges until it clicks into place.
Tighten the captive screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
Install the screws that secure the base cover to the palm rest assembly.
