How to replace the M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD) on a PowerEdge XE9680L

This 3D experience gives you the step by step process of replacing the M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD) and a PowerEdge XE9680L. The procedure will also include removing the BOSS-N1 Card Carrier and reinstalling them.

Removal

BOSS-N1 Card Carrier

Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier highlighted in blue.

Pull and lift the BOSS-N1 card carrier retention latch lock to open.

Slide the BOSS-N1 card carrier out.

M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD)

Position the BOSS-N1 card carrier as shown in the AR.

Identify the M.2 SSD highlighted in blue.

Remove the screw that secures the M.2 SSD to the BOSS-N1 card carrier.

Slide the M.2 SSD out from the BOSS-N1 card carrier.

Install

M.2 Solid State Drive(SSD)

Position the BOSS-N1 card carrier as shown in the AR.

Identify the M.2 SSD location highlighted in blue.

Align and insert the M.2 SSD into the BOSS-N1 card carrier.

Install the screw that secures the M.2 SSD to the BOSS-N1 card carrier.

BOSS-N1 Card Carrier

Identify the BOSS-N1 card carrier location highlighted in blue.

Slide the BOSS-N1 card carrier into the BOSS-N1 module slot.

Close the BOSS-N1 card carrier release latch to lock the carrier in place.
