“Dell has worked with us productively throughout. They’ve also worked with our other vendors, and nobody brought an ego to the process. They just wanted the best result for Kentucky students, and that’s what the students got.” - Damon Jackey, operations manager, engineering and architecture, Kentucky Department of Education Technology Office
The Kentucky Department of Education sought to upgrade the technology infrastructure in its schools by improving network bandwidth, lowering the ratio of students to computers and meeting its own standards for hardware.
Eighty percent of Kentucky’s school districts chose DellTM OptiPlexTM 755 desktops, Dell LatitudeTM D630 notebooks and Dell Latitude XT tablets. Dell also provided Avocent KVM switches, Dell servers for Microsoft® Active Directory® and Microsoft Exchange, as well as Microsoft Office licenses.
• Run IT Better: 16% better ratio of students to computers; 67% improvement in compliance with state’s standards for instructional devices; network enhancement to 10 to 100 megabit fiber; maintain ongoing online assessments of students’ progress: students can now access targeted streaming video; classes available from anywhere• Grow IT Smarter: 50 video conferencing centers turned back into classrooms; online, family-friendly learning plans help shape students’ futures
