Server Administrator Storage Management 8.3 User’s Guide

T10 Standard Protection Information (PI) — Data Integrity Field

The introduction of PERC 9 hardware controllers in Storage Management has brought about an essential change in storage solutions. Data integrity is an essential aspect in storage solutions, as data integrity assures the accuracy and consistency of data stored in the system over the entire lifecycle of the data. Data integrity is a practical solution for protecting the system against data loss in the event of a warning of failure.

This new feature supported on PERC 9 hardware controllers allows you to configure T10 Protection Information (PI) to virtual disks. The T10 Protection Information (PI) feature validates the data written and read from a drive to detect errors.

NOTE: If you use the Advanced Wizard to create a virtual disk, you can enable T10 PI by selecting the option from the Select Virtual Disk Type drop-down list.
