インデックスとは、特定のコンポーネントに関するイベントの番号です。インデックスパラメータを省略すると、指定された種類のすべてのコンポーネント（すべてのファンなど）に対してイベントが設定されます。 例えば、システムに複数のファンが存在する場合、特定のファンに関するイベント通知を有効または無効にすることができます。コマンド例は次のようになります。 
omconfig system events type=fan index=0 severity=critical
または 
omconfig servermodule events type=fan index=0 severity=critical

このコマンド例の結果、Server Administrator はシステムシャーシの最初のファン（インデックス 0）が重大なファン RPM に達した場合にのみ SNMP トラップを送信します。
