AW2521HF vs AW2521HFL

Jump to solution

<English only here>

Hello,

Is the difference between these two monitors only in color? Why if compared the HF model is IPS while the HFL is Fast IPS? Is it just an error in writing the description or is there a difference?

The L standards for Premium.  So the "HFL" is the Freesync Premium version. The "HF" is the standard Freesync.

Displays certified for the AMD FreeSyncTM Premium Pro tier include highly accurate luminance and wide color gamut testing to enable an exceptional HDR visual gaming experience. Any game titles that use the previous FreeSync 2 HDR branding, are supported by FreeSync Premium Pro displays. Going forward, new games that support FreeSync Premium Pro technology will use the new branding.

The difference is also reflected in price, $384.99 vs. $346.49.

$384.99 AW2521HF Dark Side of the Moon

$346.49 AW2521HFL Lunar Light

I do not know why the aw2521hlf is so more expensive than the aw2521hf on there website. It could be they have more aw2521hf monitors on layer than aw2521hlf. Therefore selling the l model at a higher price tag but for keeping op whit the demand and keeping the production high enough for the demand is only posible whit setting the price up. They maybe have a huge layer of the aw2521hf and thats why it’s so cheap.

In my country the aw2521hlf is only a 4-5 dollar more expensive than the non l version. Maybe because the demand for both the monitors is nearly equal and therefore nearly the same price.

This is incorrect. The "L" is simply the the HF in the Lunar Light color, while the original HF is the Dark Side of the Moon color. They are both Freesync Premium/G-Sync compatible certified, although, the HFL's G-Sync certification is pending in a future Nvidia driver release. The manuals for both of these models back up this information.

These monitors also do not support HDR @Eloo

If you click the links to Dell's website it clearly states for the hf version "AMD FreeSync |NVIDIA G-SYNC"

And for the hfl version it clearly states "AMD FreeSync Premium |NVIDIA G-SYNC"

There's also the $120 price premium for the model advertised as "premium." So either Dell misadvertised it or the L is for the Freesync premium, which you pay extra for.

This is also a common advertising tactic used by Dell for unwary purchasers.  For example S2716dg vs s2719dgf, for with vs without the gsync module for gsync capable vs compatible. Or up2718q vs u2718q, for premium full range color, a $500 price premium.

On the Italian site (I am Italian) the price is the same and both are FreeSync premium but I have not checked and I ordered the hfl version even if I preferred it black. I tried to contact support but they just shipped. I had to check it personally before ordering.
