AW2723DF, connecting to MacBook Pro
How can I connect my mac to this monitor? I can see it registered as a display on my mac. However on the monitor it keeps flashing "no HMDI input", or something along those lines. I have hooked it up via usb-c on the mac to HDMI on the monitor. There is no supported drivers on the dell site on this monitor for mac os, just windows only.

Solved by adjusting refresh rate to a lower frequency, then back again. Now works every time

Glad to hear you got it working.
That's a true Thunderbolt port on the MacBook-Pro.
You don't mention what version MacBook-Pro laptop you have, what version of macOS you are running, or precisely what cable or adapter you are running. But yes ... the macOS should be able to provide a basic driver that can run the monitor at it's native resolution and an acceptable color-range.
