AW3821DW, random black screen for a few seconds

Question

I've been having random black screen. Happens, once in a few days and looks like lost signal (screen turns off for a few seconds and then turns back on) but when it happens some apps like photoshop and blender always crash. Everything else works fine and also sound (music, video, etc) doesn't stop during black screens.
It started sometime after I bought a new screen AW3821DW. There's also tv connected to the same pc and when the black screen happens, they both go dark.

I tried updating Windows 10 (current build 19042.746) and gpu drivers (461.40)

144Hz in Windows. but the issue persists in 120Hz too
G-Sync is on for fullscreen

Asus tuf x299 mark 1
i7-7800x
G-Skill 32 GB 16+16
Palit RTX 3090 GamingPro OC (three DP/one HDMI)
970 EVO Plus 1tb + 2tb
Seasonic prime platinum 1000
Windows 10

PC RTX 3090 DP out port --> AW3821DW DP in port

Good idea. I just can't do it right now. I need to get a new one first. And some time to test because those black screens can happen between a week.
yes there are two 8pin (6+2)connectors.
And for the cpu it's 8pin.
You think there's nothing wrong with the screen itself?
I also found it weird that some apps crash. It doesn't happen with the signal loss.

Can't imagine any problems, on paper all should work flawlessly.

First make sure you have Nvidia 3D settings on High Performance. Next can you test another DP cable. Next make sure the power to the GPU is on separate 12v Rails (2x8pin). Do you have an 8pin connected to the MB or 12pins? on separate 12v rails too?

I see 'Optimal power', you are saying you cannot change it? The 3090 need 350W power, the 2 6+2 pins must come from separate 12v Rails to deliver 150W each. The other 50W must come from the MB, I am not totally familiar with the MB and CPU requirements, but I suspect you may be lacking power for the GPU, I think you should try adding a extra 4pin on the MB next to the 8pin. This 4pin is usually for OCing, but nevertheless that was before 350W GPUs

That screenshot isn't mine. I just used it to show the global setting on top... and just realized that it's only a processor selection. Yeah, I've got the power management mode and it's set on 'normal' right now. Should it be on 'maximum performance' always? Should I change any other options? Yeah, those are two separate 12v Rails. Will do! So.. I could have this problem with the black screens after the new screen because it requires more power and those black screens are like outages, right?

@neko_yarou  Yeah set to max performance in nvidia, this means the GPU will always be ready, this will just rule out if this is not the problem.

I am having the same issue. Using DP cable, have tried 2 different cables (both the one that came with the monitor, and another one. It was happening on my strix 3080, and now it's happening on my msi 3090. I have dual screens, and only the Alienware is going black for a few moments, sometimes it doesnt do it for a few days and then it'll do it a bunch of times when i am not even using the pc. it's only a few weeks old. I guess its a fault with the monitor?

I'm having the same issue... about once a day, screen goes black for 2-3 seconds usually at the most inopportune time possible. 3080 connected w/ DP to a 3418dw.

If it helps diagnose, I have my speakers plugged into the monitor and they also cut out when the screen goes black. I use the USB upstream port for peripherals and when the screen comes back, I get that windows tone to notify me that I just plugged something in.

Having the same issue with a 6800xt. Highly unlikely this is a gpu/software issue.. More than likely something going on with the monitor. I'm getting some pretty wonky behavior at times with this new screen. Never had this issue with my dell 32" gaming monitor

Update = After completing troubleshooting, a DELL-Cares agent setup a cable replacement.
