Aurora R10, HDD size

Thanks for all the help on the previous post! Is a 15mm and bigger hdd or ssd too big for the aurora r10 or r11 for  the 3,5 and 2,5 drive bays?

Yes, you're fine.  The 2.5" HDD caddies will accommodate a 2.5" drive up to about 20mm.

Also, the R10 comes with 2 unused 2.5" caddies.

I was about to post a similar question. I have an R10 that will be coming towards the end of March, I did the 512gb storage option knowing I have an SSD I can add but I also have a 4TB HDD(regular size) will that fit as well? Also, will the computer come with all necessary cables to add both of these drives or am I going to have to buy/add cables?

Will I need to buy SATA cables for both the SSD and HDD I’m wanting to put in it (or just one)? Also, anything special about these cables or any SATA cables will do? I want to make sure I get the right items.

Yeah, I didn’t choose a storage drive and only got the OS one.

There's room for two 2.5" SSDs, and one 3.5" HDD.  If you did not select a storage drive (your only drive purchased is 512 gb OS drive)  then you have room to add a 3.5" platter, otherwise that caddy is filled with the HDD that comes with the system.

You need the sata data cable for the 2.5 and 3.5" drives.

Yes, get a SATA iii (i.e. 6 Gbps) cable.  There are a number of options on amazon.  Both drives use the same cable.

You have to buy a SATA data cable, it comes with the power cable.

Thanks! One final question,  why does Dell say maximum drive size is 2tb, but others are saying i can exceed that? I want to replace current 1tb 3.5 hdd with a 4, 6, or 8. I have 2 2tb ssds in it now.

Dell only sells it with up to a 2TB HDD, so that is what it is validated with, they don't validate third party configurations that they do not sell. That doesn't mean it won't work. The issue with 2TB is if you have legacy boot MBR partition OS drive, then it will not recognize a boot partition in excess of 2TB.  This is a non-issue for a storage drive.  So you're fine having an 6, 8TB storage HDD regardless.
