Aurora R11, can't seem to upgrade my RAM

I attempted to upgrade the RAM in my Aurora R11 by adding a 16GB HyperX Fury DDR4 kit, but it was unsuccessful due to compatibility issues with the XMP profiles. The stock RAM in the Aurora R11 is model XW21KG-MIE / 9995702-045.A00G and the new RAM is model X432C16FB3K2/16 - 99U5743-007.A00G. The stock RAM has slower CL timings than the new RAM, but the only solution may be for Dell to update the BIOS XMP profiles or sell their own overpriced RAM. I contacted HyperX about the issue, but I'm starting to regret purchasing a pre-built system for the first time.

The XMP profiles are stored on the RAM modules, not the BIOS.

Mixing and matching different RAM modules is almost always going to cause issues, especially with different XMP profile RAM modules.

The only RAM to guaranteed to work is the OEM validated memory modules. Anything else might or might not work.

Not sure buying a pre-built is the problem as much as these Aurora's being so sensitive to the model of RAM you install and the fact that mixing even from the same manufacturer causes major problems.  You may get some insight with this post--https://www.dell.com/community/Alienware-Desktops/Aurora-R9-a-pain-free-upgrade-nice-for-a-change/m-p/7746473#M36053 .

Best of luck!

As I said in another post it's not always "plug and play" as far as modules and xmp profiles even with "similar" memory modules by the same maker, some of the kingston renegades, beast are listed ( web site) as not plug & play type.

Mixing is possible but is a gamble and may work or not , especially when when the bios updates occurs

I've tried a few odd balls mixing ( with the oem's ) they worked but after testing the combination ( with bios updates) it was doubtful  and at the end I put in some Crucial exact matched pairs and it's been working fine for many months  a few bios updates and serious testing. So far very stable.

Don't know if this will help you or not but I'll throw it out there.  I have the crucial ballistix BL2K16G32C16U4B (2x16GB kit) 3200 cl16, and it works great on my R10, in fact I have it running at 3466Mhz with no problems. But going to 3600mhz is a no go.  If i set it to 3600mhz the next time i try to power up it won't boot.
