Aurora R12, won't stay powered on

The same thing happened to me this week.  The R12 worked fine the night before but the next day, it will only power on for a half a second.  Before the computer bricked, I did see an update required message appear on the screen when the computer was working but ignored it.  I tried calling DELL tech support and they said that there was a problem with my warranty.  The computer is only two months old!!  They are now asking me to pay for shipping to get a single incident support where I will also have to pay for parts and services!  Not fair for an update that DELL pushed.

Try clearing CMOS. 

Thanks for the suggestion.  Already tried clearing the CMOS and it didn't work.  Still dealing with the same issue.

Following this thread - I have the same issue due to a recent firmware update, turns on (in yellow as opposed to the blue RGB that I set) and it immediately shuts off.

Will try the CMOS fix soon and hoping a mobo doesn't have to be replaced this early on.

I have the same issue.  This afternoon my daughters R12 had a "update" when the system shut down it wouldn't reboot.  I press the button, the unit clicks, green LED comes on.  Faceplate lights up.  But it won't post.  I tried resetting the CMOS.  I changed the CMOS battery.  Even swapped out the video card and memory modules.  Nothing.  This is clearly a problem with an update being pushed out.  

@Auburnkurls Did DELL charge you for the repair?  The Service Center just received my R12 today and diagnosed it as a MOBO issue.  They are charging me $220 for the repair even though the computer is 3 months new!

No there was no charge. But I bought the warranty coverage 

Hi everyone, I was looking for someone experiencing the same problems as I do and found this topic. I have identically the same problems but they started a bit different.

I got my R12 (i9 11900 F, RTX 3090, 32GB Ram) 1 1/2  weeks ago and everything worked fine. After I shut the system down on the second day, Windows and AW did some updates (including the BIOS) and the problems started. At first I got a flickering screen (not on the home screen) when I started games  and the display went to black. The system was still running but I could not do anything than shut it down. The same thing happened again and again and sometimes it took a bit longer but the error occurred after a while. 

Directly after the restart after the update was made, the screen was black. 

I switched to another screen and plugged it in with a HDMI cable instead of DP and dropped it from 240hz to 60hz. Now it worked and I did some 3D MARK Benchmark tests. I had loops where the tests were running until the end and I got my score and in some tests the screen started to flicker again and the system restarted or took me back to the home screen. 

Now after it worked for a few hours the last evening and let me play some racing games, I checked back this morning to find put if everything is still running, but now the problem of this thread happened to me as well! The system won't even start and directly goes off after 1-2 seconds. I had so many calls with Dell technicians and sent them videos and pictures of my errors. At first the GPU did not work fine and now the motherboard id the next problem... 

They will sent a technician to me to change both parts. Hopefully it will work!

I also did all the tests like downgrading the BIOS, reinstalling Windows, opening the case for unplugging all cables etc. 

After all the years working with Apple I thought buying a gaming PC and this happened... Just amazing XD

Having the same problem.

Had windows update, clicked install.. screen turned to mostly white with black boxes, as someone else described, and the machine wouldn’t power back on. Instantly flipped off.

I reset the CMOS battery, now the machine will power on but stays blue and never posts. Does not show any output on monitor or beep codes.

Hey there, when I first had the screen issues, I tried changing the monitor and plugged it in with an HDMI cable instead of DP and decreased it to 60hz or 120hz instead of 240hz (DP). 

Maybe you can get an output with that but it won´t change the problem because after a few restarts everything started again.

How many times does it flash in sequence before pausing and restarting?

Also, what was the windows update?

I just noticed, when the R12 fails to power on - the GPU fans spin up before the machine clicks off. Alien head flashes yellow.

When it powers on and keeps power - the GPU fans don’t spin up and the alien head is same color as testing power.

Did you install the latest windows and AW updates causing the problems after you got a new motherboard?

I installed the windows 11 preview. Everything worked fine worked fine except I had problems with my printer driver so I rolled it back to windows 10 Which is fully updated.
