All correct.

However, you can also create the Windows Recovery Drive (when you first get machine) and the Dell Recovery Partition is still in-place and working. Be sure "Include System Files" is checked. Not sure why more people don't create it. You might never use it, but at least you'll have it.

This "should" restore machine very close to factory shipped (with Dell apps, Intel-RST, and heavy-drivers-suites). Not sure why you would want that, but that's what it seems to do in my testing of it (I then erased it and did it the normal microsoft.com way).

1. Yes.

However, I think they finally added a "Clean Start" option. But my thought is ... if that's your objective, might as well really erase it and use the microsoft.com USB drive. That lays down a new perfect set of Windows files on a freshly partitioned and formatted drive.

2. No.

But you said:

"I'm kinda tired of all the built in software From Dell (I basically want to completely reimage this machine using stock Win11 USB)."

So, set BIOS to UEFI/AHCI/SecureBoot, and

Clean-install Windows-11 64bit with USB created with microsoft.com Media Creation Tool .

No more Dell software (unless you want a BIOS or AW-CC).

Never install Intel-RST. All the "drivers" you need will come from Microsoft with Windows-Update. Your Device-Manager should be "clean" with everything reporting properly.

Drop by nvidia.com or amd.com and get your video-card driver.

Done.

@Sabster76

A better option is fresh start.

WINDOWS KEY  R

c:\windows\system32\systemreset.exe -cleanpc

Sorry about the long delay in replying - but wouldn't the system reset still rely on Dell's image (so all the dell product would still be on there...)

Hi,

I made a reimage of my R13 and I don't regret it...

You need addIntel Rapide Storage Technology driver on your media installation in a folder like : IRST Driver

Download this Intel Rapid Storage Technology Driver | Driver Details | Dell Canada

Follow this Knowledge Base on Dell WebSite, for mor information

2. Perform a Windows Update scan to find the missing drivers and get the latest version of Windows 11.

3. Install MANUALLY the following drivers

- GPU Driver on Nvidia or AMD Website (not use Dell version, is a old version)
- Intel Serial IO Driver
Intel Innovation Platform Framework Driver
Intel Management Engine Components Installer
Intel Dynamic Tuning Driver
Intel Chipset Device Software | Driver Details | Dell Canada

4. Is over, also Windows Store get a update and install all software like Realtek Audio Console, Nvidia Panel and Killer App. Also propably Alienware Command Center

Finally figured out why the drives were not being seen: Bios default is raid (I should have known better) and it never saw the drives until I set it to AHCI ... We have this same issue at work with the newer Dell laptops (thus, I should have known better...)

Thanks All - I got it working

Ok been trough all the shenanigans with a fresh installation.

If u wanna do so here my steps:

-Make yourself a bootable usb hardrive or stick. Download the media creation tool from

https://www.microsoft.com/de-de/software-download/windows11

-Shut down.Open your r13 and disconect all hdd devices except the pcie ssd.

-Turn your PC on and hit F2. Set under Advanced the Raid to AHCI.

-Shut down

-Conect your USB bootable image.

-Start PC and hit F12 select your USB device, and hit enter.

-Go to troubleshoot and go to command prompt.

-Type diskpart,

-Type list disk and locate you NVMESSD

-Type select disk * (*= eg your Number for your NVMESSD)

-When Drive is selected type clean this will erase all partitions on that drive.

-Shutdown again and boot again from your USB Drive.

-click install now, select your drive and hit create.

-click format drive

-install win11. During the installation process login with your microsoft account

-when in windows shut down, and reconect your other disks

-disconect your bootable usb drive

Now you have a clean fresh install without all the dell drives.

Download all you necessary drivers from the original vendors like:

intel management, intel aio,GPU etc.

Like Brain says ignore all the offers of assisted  support from Dell for a high end gaming PC and do it the Microsoft way. Once you get it set up that way, do not go near the Dell site and especially Support Assistant ever. Do not use any drivers from Dell ever.  There not designed for your specific machine.  There generic drivers Dell love to advertise as machine specific and there far from it.

Once you set your lights also ditch the AWCC.

Hi Sabster, and after the clean installation, the PC worked fine? Better than before? No more crashes or hiccups?

Thanks for all the help. The fresh installation worked, with all the problems mentioned here, but there is still the same problem of random blackscreen and running fans. Before I did a fresh installation I did a reset, and also the same error kept coming.

I might consider as a last step to install Windows 10.
