Aurora R8, RTX 2080 Super, power throttling when playing games?

You can try raising the power limit above 96%.   

You should be able to go to like 120%

Slide it over to 120 in MSI 

The power limit in AWCC is already set at 100%.

I installed MSI afterburner to look at the the temperatures while playing games. For most of the games while playing, I see this `Lim1 Power` in the OSD. Looks like the GPU is power throttling. Is this a problem? If so how can I fix it?

Hitting power limit means that the card has reached is full 250W TDP when running the game. For the TU104, NVIDIA set a base of 250W TDP and then depending on the board maker, the vBIOS would keep this limit or move it upwards.

So not all 2080 Super cards are the same. If you find that MSI Afterburner doesn't allow you to move beyond 100%, even after checking all the unlocking limits in the settings, then you've gotten a stock card that's locked to the default power limit. Anyways, at 250W and 78C, best to keep it that way yah?

I'd mention that I can go up to 120 no prob but that may not be especially useful since I have long since gotten rid of the oem dell gpu that came in my aurora.

120% for RTX 2080 Super is beyond the realm of reference card design. EVGA probably pushed the reference PCB design to its max with the XC cards and I own some of them. Even then, I max out at 117%. Move to FTW3 or Strix OC PCBs if you want to see anything 300W for 2080 Super. General rule of thumb is if you see a 6+8 power connector on the card, you're not gonna be at 300W. You'll want 8+8 for that.
