X51 R3, 4 monitor setup?
Trying to install a 4 monitor setup on my X51 R3. It seems to work fine with 3, but when I plug the 4th monitor in it does not get a signal from the PC. I have tried switching the monitors and cables in every deviation to confirm all monitors and cables are good known working ones, which they are. Current video card being used is Nvidia GTX 970, 4 ports on the card, 1DVI, 1 HDMI, 2 mini Displayport. My current config is below...
Monitor 1 = HDMI out to mini displayport in to PC
Monitor 2 = HDMI out to mini displayport in to PC
Monitor 3 = HDMI out to DVI converter, DVI in to PC
Monitor 4 = HDMI out to HDMI in to PC
It doesn't matter which variation I swap out and test, they all work until that 4th monitor gets plugged in, whichever one it may be at that time. Any help here is greatly appreciated.

I have all 4 monitors plugged in right now, and the one that has the DVI converter is actually working. That does not seem to be the issue. At the moment, the 4th monitor is the HDMI out to mini displayport in, and that is the one that is not working. It doesn't matter which monitor I swap out, it just seems like any monitor that becomes the 4th monitor does not seem to get a signal. Does this PC support 4 monitors?

Hi,
You DVI which is it - DVI-I or DVI-D that could be the issue
mini and hdmi will carry both signals - DVI might not
You could try VGA monitor to DVI adapter to get the 4th monitor working
I assume you are using the Nvidia control panel and have it re-detect - if you find the no 3 port and switch that monitor to analog
Keep me posted thanks

Are you sure a 970 can support four monitors over hdmi? The 970 only has 4gb RAM right?

ALL 970 GPU's have memory flaw so you don't have the ability to do 4 monitors.

If you need 4 monitors you need a card with enough ram and spec to support that.

Thanks speedstep. The behavior was indicating that 4 monitors was not supported, I just wanted to see if I could get it confirmed. Appreciate your feedback.
