Alienware 14 Alienfx not updating?

Today, I turned on my laptop like usual to play a game. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but my laptop's Alienfx wont update or change. I had a few themes that I attempted to change to, and some of the default ones. Its just staying in one colour and the lights wont respond. I click apply on the Alien Command Center multiple times and it still doesn't do anything. I even used AlienRespawn to reboot my computer, and its still like this. I have no idea what to do. Please help :(

Hi K2pwnz0r,

Drain the MB power. Disconnect the Power cable, press and hold the power button for few seconds and release to drain the flea power Update BIOS to latest version from the following link:

http://dell.to/12DotNT

  • During BIOS update verify that the computer is connected to an AC Adapter.
  • Disconnect any third party peripherals connected to the computer before performing BIOS update.
  • Do not turn off the computer during the BIOS update.
  • Do not restart the computer during the BIOS update.
  • Ensure battery charge is more than 30% during BIOS update.

Note: Plug your computer to a good, working UPS before you update the BIOS. If you experience a loss of AC power or a significant voltage sag/spike during the BIOS flash, you will either have to buy a new BIOS chip or buy a new motherboard.

Now create a new AlienFX theme:

  • Open the AlienFX Editor in Command Center.
  • Access the Theme tab in the upper left corner of the AlienFX Editor and choose the New Theme Option to create a new theme.
  • Save the new theme at the location and name of your preference by selecting the Save Theme option.

Reinstall the latest Alienware Command Center from thefollowinglink:

If needed, create a new AlienFX theme again.

Awaiting your response!

I will try this on Saturday, sorry I can't any sooner, but I am very busy. Also, where can I send my laptop in for repairs if this fails? I am in Toronto, Ontario Canada, and I still have my warranty active as I received my laptop less than a month ago. I can see that there are very high risks by properly completing a BIOS update, and having little skill with computers, I don't feel safe doing this.
