Alienware 14, black screen and infinite beeping.

Hello, yesterday I spent the day just on youtube and watching some films and my laptop was ok. This morning when I tried starting it, it came up with a black screen and constant beeping.

Symptoms: Black Display screen no back light, Beeping infinitely, Occasional very rare succesful boot.

I've tried: Removing the battery, Restarting with only A/C power, draining the battery and starting, checked for any damage.

It's only managed too succesfully boot once so far and that took an hour or two of constantly restarting. I was wondering are there any ideas or tips on how to fix? Or atleast an idea of whats wrong with it?

How many beeps do you hear in one go (before a pause happens)?

I timed the beeps yesterday and its every 2 seconds a beep and i got to 22 without any changes in timings, and from the beep tables i've looked at it should only do 9 beeps max before a pause. I managed to get 2 succesful back to back boots without it happening and on the second one i ran the hardware diagnostic unit by pressinf F12 on start up, and it found no faults or any warnings. I can get a succesful boot every 12 restart...

I'm thinking a beep before a pause from what you said. And a single beep = possible system board, BIOS, or ROM error.

In other words, (obviously) there may b a problem with the motherboard. I would suggest, though, reflashing the latest BIOS revision.

Yeah that makes sense, is there anyway of flashing the latest BIOS version that I have on the laptop already,

As long story short I'm unable to access the internet apart from on a set computer through work (Working Abroad).

You'll have to download the latest version through Dell's Support Site. It shouldn't take too long to download it.

Hi! Did you resolve the issue because I have the exact same problem for a same model Alienware 14. A friend says its motherboard to be changed which I'd like to avoid since it's crazy spend on a 15 months old computer.
