Alienware 18 backlight isn't working (someone help me quick)
4 days ago i got my Alienware 18' everything was fine but yesterday the keyboard backlight stopped working i don't know why and i have no clue what to do its not on dark mode but it wont turn on. Can someone help me quickly. I leave in 2 weeks on a trip and i wont be back in a long time i need a fix quick !

I went through two forum articles, Alienware 18 backlight isn't working (someone help me quick) and No lights (AlienFX issues) on Alienware Systems.
My lights came on at boot up then went back out again.
I reloaded the Command Center and changed themes, none of that seemed to do what I was looking for.
Then, I right-clicked on the alien head in the Notification Area and clicked on :"Enable Third Party AlienFX access", "keep status zones on during Go Dark" and "dim lighting zones in battery mode only".
With the last one the lights came on.
Did I dim out the lights somewhere along the line? Or did loading a driver change a setting? I don’t know, my lights are working again, and are set up the way I want them so I’m happy as far as that’s concerned.
It just seems like a really goofy way to get where I wanted to go.

Zaringah,
* Click Start- All Programs- Alienware- Command Center- AlienFX Editor
* Click My Themes- Browse Themes
* The oldest one should be our default "Alienware"
* Click it
* Click Apply
* Close the AlienFX Editor
* Click Start- Shutdown
* Turn the system on
* Does the keyboard backlight come on? If not, remove the AWCC (Alienware Command Center) and reinstall it

I Tried the first method and it didn't work so i unistalled Control Center, but know i can install it again when i got to mydelldownload it says unknown tag and now i don't have command center.

Nothing happened after i installed the command center, i still have no lighting on the keyboard on for some reason my power buttom is illuminated red even do my alienfx says a different color.
I Installed the Command center and still nothing happened, the keyboard still doesn't light up and the power buttom instead of being green which is what alienfx and the rest of the lights are showing is red.

I'm having the same problem, I had already unloaded Command Center and .net Framework and reloaded them. I then tried the instructions you have here.
I shut down for several minutes, when I restarted the system, the lights came on for a few seconds and went back out again. At least I know the problem isn't wiring.
I've been having this issue for a week now. I've been looking through the forums once in awhile.
So far no joy.
I did get a popup earlier that stated that there was a problem with AlienFX. I'm also have a problem with the Windows task bar going not visible. I do have it set to stay visible. I've found I can reboot and it comes back.
unfortunately the popup has not come back as of yet.
