Alienware Alpha often won't sleep (AlphaMonitor seems to prevent it)
Recently I've notice that when I put my Alpha to sleep that often only the monitor powers down, but the alpha stays awake and when I bring it back up it's not at the lock screen like it should be. I think this might have started after upgrading the Alpha UI to the new HiveMind interface.
After doing some searching I found a diagnostic command and here is the result.

If I kill AlphaMonitor, my Alpha goes to sleep fine.

Hi,
Can you confirm which Windows operating system you are using with this system? Check the power settings, I believe you should have some options for telling the system what to do when it goes to sleep. I'm running Windows 8.1. The problem with sleep doesn't happen right away. It works fine when I first boot up, and usually for a while after, but eventually it stops going to sleep all the way. Which led me to believe it was some program I'd start or some usb device I'd plug in. I have an USB Sound Blaster X-Fi HD box with a power light, that turns off when the computer is asleep, but when the problem happens the light blinks. I can log off and back on to get sleep working again. But as I've stated, if I kill AlphaMonitor, sleep will work correctly until I have to reboot and it starts again.

Hi,
Have you tried disconnecting the USB Sound Blaster box just to confirm if this happens without the device connected? There may be a setting for this device that allows it to wake the system. To check this, go to Device Manager, look for the USB Sound Blaster device and double click it, in this window, look for a tab that says Power Management and click on it, there may be a setting here called " Allow this device to wake the computer", make sure it is not checked. Let us know how it goes.
