Alienware Aurora ALX lights not working Master I/O Part #
I've been trying to get the lights on my Alienware Aurora ALX working. The only lights that works are the alien head and the front bezel. By work I mean they are the color white. When I'm in Command Center, it doesn't even show the temperature readings/fan speeds or lights. I'm thinking my I/O board is bad.
I cannot get anything to change in Comand Center.
I've tried every solution on the forums and nothing seems to work.
I've reinstalled windows 3 times. Nothing.
I've reinstalled Alienware Command Center 6 times(correct version, and different ones)
I've tried the Shutdown the computer, unplug the power cord and hold the power button down for 1-2 mins trick, didn't work.
I've did the part to reset the board using the Green jumper, didn't work.
I've ran a diagnostics and everything seems fine, not sure if it's testing the Master Control I/O Board.
I'm going to order an Alienware Aurora ALX Alien FX/ Master Control I/O Board, because I'm sure my I/O board is bad.
The part number is 02JXP2 and version 1.1 mine says A02
The white label on my I/O board says A02 but it has the same part number 02JXP2 and version 1.1,
my questions is can I use a board with the same Part number but it says A04?
Here is a picture of the I/O board with the A02, the one I want to buy has the save part number 02JXP2 and at the bottom says A04 instead, but is a version 1.1.
If anyone as any advice before I order the card/ any tips to see if I can get the lights working on my computer?

Right ... if it's not connected, it can't work.

Hello ThatOne_Gamer,
Yes, you can use the one with the A04, this might be related to version of the firmware so before you install the new I/O board make sure you completely uninstall the Alienware Command Center. After the installation of the I/O board you can install the latest version of the ACC again.
How to uninstall and reinstall the Alienware Command Center?

Run Dell Diagnostic on the MIO-Board. If Dell Diagnostics doesn't detect a MIO-Board at startup, the MIO-Board tests will not be available or listed. All the other tests that ARE listed, will likely test good. If this is happening, it must be corrected first. You really have to observe these MIO-Board tests, because the results are very important to the progression of steps to the final diagnosis or repair.
If the MIO-Board tests fail in Dell Diagnostics (outside of Windows), there is really no chance it will operate in Windows with Command Center software.

I'm pretty sure I know why the lights are not working. I looked up the Service Manual and looked my Master IO Board over and seen that the MB_USB connector is not hooked up. #15 called USB connector(MB_USB). I don't have the cable that connects the Mother Board to the MIO Board. For some reason the person I bought it from kept the cable or something, it is no where to be found.
Good News is that I ordered the Mother Board to MIO Board USB connector. From my understanding when I get the cable in the mail I have to hook it up on the Mother Board connector called "USB 1 Header" or simply USB 1 then connect that to #15 on the MIO Board which is the USB connector(MB_USB). I'm pretty sure that's why my lights ect are not working.
My MIO Board might be good after all but I won't know until I get the USB connector cable in. I'll let everyone know how it goes with the connector come in the mail.

Is that the right way to connect it? When the cable comes in, connect one end on the mother board labeled USB 1, then the other end to the MIO Board labeled MB_USB? I'm pretty sure that's the right way to hook it up, just want to be sure.

Here are my notes:
2JXP2 - Aurora R1-x58 (Deimos)/Aurora R2 (Voltaire) ALX Master I/O Board
P0GVP - Aurora R1-x58 (Deimos)/Aurora R2 (Voltaire) non-ALX Master I/O Board
On my version of the board (P0GVP), most header pin connectors and components for AXL functions are NOT soldered in.
To CommandCenter is appears to be a non-ALX machine (no louver control or extra ALX lights)
MotherBoard Connections:
MB USB1 - MIO-Board (one USB channel for MIO, one for FlexBay)
MIO-Board Connections:
MotherBoard USB (MB_USB)
Yes, the above describes the same one cable (and where it connects at both ends).
---------
Complete List-
MotherBoard Connections:
MB USB1 - MIO-Board (one USB channel for MIO, one for FlexBay)
MB USB2 - Front-Top Panel (2 x USB 2.0 Ports)

Front_Panel - BLINK header on MIO-Board (wires in parallel with others ... 2 wires on each pin)
Firewire - Front-Top Panel (1 Firewire port)
Audio - Front-Top Panel (analog heaphone and mic)
Chipset Fan
MB_CPU_Fan - 3-pins of the 26-pin cable that goes to the MIO-Board (MB_MIO)
MIO-Board Connections:
Power supply - Molex 4 pin (5v/12v)
MotherBoard USB (MB_USB)
MotherBoard Front_Panel (BLINK)

I got the connector in the mail. The lights are working except the top running lights by the active venting(that run along the side of the active vents) I cannot change the lights and are just showing black(no light). What is controlling the lights on the top?
Where does the top lights get connected to on the motherboard or the MIO board. I'm just trying to figure out if it is unplugged or something.

I seen one wire on the "Active Vent" connector was cut...I tried to solider the wire back together but there must be some kind of chemical or coating stopping the solider from sticking. I had to to twist both ends together and solider it that way but the solider still didn't stick...
As far as I can tell the everything on the top lighting board looks connected, I'll check again and trace each wire bundle down.

Turns out that wire that was cut(white colored insulation) for the "Active_Vent" controlled the top lighting! Everything lights up now, Perfect!
I really like to thank everyone for their help and input.
I wish I could give everyone best answer! Tesla1856 I'm giving you the best answer for always replying and helping! Wish I could give everyone that replied the best answer but you kept coming back to this thread the most and I really appreciate the help.

I assume you mean the mio usb cable; a simple eBay search for Aurora cable reveals this one:
