Just install the SSD in a standard "SSD to 3.5in HDD adapter caddy", and then install that whole thing into this ... like a normal 3.5in. spinning drive. That's what I would do.
Hi Tesla, the R4 have similar caddy for 3.5hdd: I've already tried to put in, but the only way to insert it is to leave the caddy uncaged... and this is not good because I cannot close the side panel.
I've tried contacting support@alienware.co.uk that is the reference point for Europe (I cannot find even the email for Italian Alienware support), but I still haven't received an answer.
It's a bit tedious that this part it's available for Alienware ordered with SSD and not as spare part.

I forum user here bought the caddy from Dell spare parts. You could also send Dell Chris-M a PM and ask him if he can get the caddy for you. You would think that once you got the part number it would be pretty easy getting the caddy. But getting it across seas to you...I'm not sure. It will cost a lot I'm sure just like you said.
Well, on the Aurora R1, R2 (and I think also R3) it's not similar to that ... it IS exactly that. The HDDs snap in and the wires attach manually in front.
It seems that on the Aurora R4's (maybe all or maybe just the ALX model) the caddies are different because the drives are installed backwards, with the connections toward the back. When fully inserted, they connect to a mostly-hidden electrical back-plane (sort-of like a server). On these, yes ... I could see the need for a specially designed caddy for a 2.5" form-factor SSD.
Sorry, I should have read your original message closer.
I've lost hope in finding this item in europe. My last chance was online part reseller Com-Com: they listed one refurbished part as available and i wrote them for buy it but this has been the reply:
"Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately the item you requested is not currently in stock so we cannot help you at this time."
I cannot find this on ebay too. I'm afraid to buy from US, since of shipping cost and tax too...this is a hole from Dell support, since my Aurora was build in Poland and I cannot find this part here in Europe!

Try contacting your local reps directly, they may have the part available. Find the contact info in our support website. Worth the shot.

You should have 3 extra of these (in the spare bays):

Can the 3.5 caddy you have now be modded any so the door can close?
