Alienware Aurora (non ALX) - Standard PSU size?

Hi,

I am trying to find out what PSU size standard Alienware Aurora machines ship with, no information with regard to this on my order confirmation or whilst i made the order, google etc I am seeing reports of as low as 525, which I hope is not the case.

Ordered with bottom spec video card as I already have a 295GTX 1.8GB which obviously a 525wat will struggle with.  Also already got an X-FI Platinum to put in.

I am not sure if Alienware spec up the PSU based on the kit you order or have a minimum standard size.

If it is as low as 525, do Dell/Alienware offer you an option to upgrade it?

for anyone official my order is:

Thanks for the reply johnnyboy, unfortantly PSU size was not an option during the order process, and at this stage have no idea of what size my machine will ship with.

Hopefully an 875 as that would suit my needs.

A 875 would be fine for dual video cards, but its kind of pushing it some - depending on what card you get. According to what I read, you will get a 875 (under Tech Specs; no other option).

so it does, just had a look only option AlienwareTM  875 Watt Multi-GPU Approved Power Supply

That should be fine, will only be running a single GTX295.

Thanks

It's fine...I have the 525W with the GTX260

JUST CHECKED THE ORDER PAGE AND IT SHOWS THE 875 POWER OPTION AS AN 80tiny_mce_markernbsp; OPTION WHICH TELLS ME IT WILL PROBABLY COME WITH A 525. I MISSED THIS ALSO WHEN I ORDERED :(  SO I'M EXPECTING THE 525. HOPE THIS IS OK WITH THE GTX 260!

looks like dell.com, on tech specs page the 525 is (standard), and 875 is an option, on the euro site http://www1.euro.dell.com the tech specs show as only 875 and during the ordering process theres no option to change.

Euro buyer here so still hope for the 875 as the 525 wont push a gtx295

Hi Rob

Just curious to see if the system arrived and what PSU was installed as i'm in the same situation now. Waiting on my system and worried about the PSU.

Cheers

So you're saying that it comes stock 875 in EU? I've been wondering about my PS size since i got it. And im so worried i got the 525 ;( coz ima get 5970 Radeon and 525 just don't cut it.  I live in Norway, i ordered it in November, and I had no choice to choose what kind of PSU, so I'm hoping I got the 875.
