Alienware Laptop, HDMI-IN not working

I, too, have this issue. Last year, around December 2013, I was successfully able to plug in my friend's xbox 360 and play Call of Duty on my laptop via HDMI. However, recently, I tried to use HDMI in port again, but I couldn't get it to work and it kept stating "please connect HDMI input Device". Today, I had a technician replace the motherboard, but unfortunately, that still didn't work. I don't know why/how this doesn't work, and it really frustrates me since I bought this laptop with HDMI input being one of the bigger appeal.

Hi,

Have you tried an HDMI 1.4 cable?

hi i just solved itt!!!!!!!! update ur video driver.. not the nvidea graphics card or any affiliating software. Just update the video driver by opening AlienAutopsy and click on 'Drivers & Updates'.. the website will open up on ur browser and fill in the form online. it will give u a long list of things to update. Download the video & audio driver update but just to be sure download all the updates (thats what i did) and hopefully it will work after restarting ur lap  ( some updates given in list might be outdated so just ignore them)

Oh and its important to know that ur graphics card must be switched to give the highest performance as Alienware system  switches it to give a suitable performance to save power/energy. On my pc it can be done by pressing fn+ F5 ( I/D GFX). This button switches it on and off so make sure to keep trying it as u may switch it off and try the HDMI in and all u will get is a black screen and the audio working.
