Alienware M17xR3 - Windows 8 unsupported - Unacceptable.

So 2 years ago I decided to buy an Alienware gaming laptop and went for an M17x! Great I thought! Finally a machine which can handle my gaming needs and I will make in future proof by expanding the memory and processors at an extra cost! Errr... no! Only 2 years down the line and I look to upgrade to Windows 8 (for work reasons mainly) and find that my laptop is not compatible with the latest version of windows and therefore is not as future proof as I once thought.

Now 'the warranty' has expired and I cannot get directly into contact with Dell customer support without paying a fee to complain about this. So I have come here to vent and hopefully get noticed. Does anyone else have this problem? Is it easily rectified? Why does the website state that Windows 8 is unsupported? Will it ever be supported? If I install Windows 8 what problems will I face?

I have seen some other topics on here which cover the same issue and representatives from Dell have just stated 'it"s not supported'. That is not an acceptable response. I don't think that it is unreasonable to assume that this machine should be able to run Windows 8 especially as this version was only released a year after I bought the laptop.

This definitely makes me wonder if what you are really paying for is just a snazzy case with an alien emblem on it.
