Alienware X51 Motherboard bad/different part number
I picked up an Alienware X51 desktop computer with a bad motherboard(single beep, constantly beeps) and I was wondering if I could swap another Alienware X51 motherboard in the computer with a different part number would it work?
My computer X51 Processor,I5-2320 , motherboard part number 08PG26
The motherboard I want to buy and swap, motherboard part number 06G6JW, Processor Intel H61 LGA 1155
From my understanding as long as the motherboards have the same socket it would work but I'm unsure if my motherboard has the LGA 1155 cpu?
Other then that would the different motherboard work?

Hi Thatone_gamer,
The LGA 1155 is the socket type, you would just need to swap the CPU from your original motherboard. If this motherboard was from a X51 R1, you are not going to have any problem.

Thank you Alienware-Alexander_J, I'm not sure if the motherboard that I'm going to buy is from an R1, I'm not sure if mine is an R1 or not, but I assume it is.

Do you have any tips on how to install the cpu without damaging the socket? I bought the mb and some Artic Silver thermal paste.

I believe I picked up an Alienware x51 from the same supplier. Single beep with part number 08PG26.
Now, the supplier and I thought it was a motherboard issue and they issued me with a brand new motherboard which I received this morning. After installing it, I still have the same beep. I've used both i3 -2120 and i5-3570k processors but nothing.
I have noted though, when you turn the PSU power on, the light on the Alienware x51 power button lights up white, however when you hold the button to shut down, the white standby light switches off too. Can you confirm if this is the same for you?
