Alienware ware Aurora ALX boot time

I purchased an Alienware Aurora earlier this Spring, and have noticed that it takes a very long time to boot.  From the time I hit my power button, until all icons on my screen are visable and able to work, it takes anywhere from 7-9 minutes.

I may see my desktop in 3-5 minutes, but due to other processes I can click on Firefox and nothing will happen for a few additional minutes.

When I purchased this computer I went with the RAID 0 option.  I had called and told them that I wanted an SSD and a different RAID option, but was told they don't do that.  So I stuck with the RAID 0 option.  But have always noticed how slow boot time has been.  Is it the alienware bloat, like the thermal controls?  Or something else that makes it so slow?

I don't support RAID on desktops, but it sounds degraded or something.

IMHO, I would install 256gb SSD (or larger) ... even if I had to clean install. My computer boots up (to usable desktop) in about 20 secs (with 100 processes running).

Then I would likely break the raid, use one spinner HDD for large game installs, and one for data files.

How many Hard Drives do you currently have inside the computer?
Are you sure that the OS is installed within the SSD?
Also, you can check the msconfig and unmark all the unnecessary applications from launching in boot-up.

Thank you for this reply.  I may have to install an SSD and a clean install.    Maybe Santa will bring me one.  :-)

There are two drives, no SSD in this configuration.  They wouldn't allow me to purchase the configuration that I wanted, so I went with the RAID 0 option.
