Alienware x51 Crashing when playing games.

Hello,

I have recently started playing games on my PC. First I played Football Manager 2013 and it worked without a hitch. Then I tried to play Sims 3, and after around 10 mins or so my volume would make a noise for a minute or 2 whilst the PC lagging and then it would crash. The only way to turn it off was pulling out the power. So I thought this may have been just with Sims. But now I have just purchased Skyrim and it is happening on that too.

I believe this is the problem I am having - http://gyazo.com/b451a5eac6267a1b99135355d2567ad6.png. However that link does not work for me. So could someone link / tell me how to "remove their driver and load the latest retail driver along with the latest Bios" please.

This is the model - http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=d00and20&model_id=alienware-x51&c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1.

Cheers

I tried your link but it doesn't work.

Install - what crashed (link below). Play a game and then look at what the dump file says.

That aside, make sure you have bios a11 installed and the latest graphics driver installed from the dell site.  I don't think n idia drivers work with the oem 660 you have.

Do a diagnostic check through alien autopsy.

Then report back

Hi Callum525,

Here's the link for the latest BIOS (A11):

What graphics card do you have in your system?

I finally found my solution to my Sims 3 game crashing, freezing, error 12s.  You have to edit your Nvidia Control Panel program settings and tell it the Sims 3 should use the Nvidia High Performance graphics setting instead of the global setting for an integrated card. I had to add the Sims to the list since it wasn't there. But I've been playing my game and NO crashing. The resolution is much crisper also and I noticed the game reset itself to the highest settings.
