Aurora R3 Power Supply Upgrade
Dear all,
I have an Aurora R3 and have just installed a GTX 1080 FTW. The computer would shut down in the middle of a game, and I suspect that it's because of the power supply, which I believe to be 525w (Dell M821J?). Can I replace the current one with Dell W299G (875w) and would it work then?
Thanks.

Yes, the Aurora-R3 could be ordered with optional 875w PS from R1, R2. I think maybe all R4's came with 875w PS.
The included wiring-harness (built-into machine) is the same for 525w and 875w, so no problem there.
In general, I suggest a large power-supply in desktops. At max-gaming, if it doesn't need all that power, it runs around 60% utilization (which is good and cooler).
It should fix problem, but only if your problem was lack of amps/watts or if your old PS was worn-out.

Thank you for your reply! I suspect that it's because the computer (with the new video card) would only shut off when I use 4k with the TV (thereby requiring more power), not 1080p with the monitor. I just ordered a used one on Ebay, hope it will work. Thanks.
