Brand new Alienware turn off it self.
When I buy this I was thinking I'm buying high-end laptop. After a 30 min. playing World of warcraft it's turn off by it's self. After this everything start normal but again after 10 min. turn off. Again start and not more then 2 min. before turn off again. I try safe mode to make diagnostic and everything was OK. But when i go back to normal mode and try to do something like play some game or try a virus check it turn off again. I re-install windows and guess what? 20 min, before turn off. Even when I try to install some games it turn off. And dell website say my service tag is not valid. Please help me or just take the laptop back and give me back the 1500£ I pay for it.

My randomly turns itself off also. It has come to the point that when I unplug it, it will immediately turn off. Pritty pathetic! (No, if you're reading this and think it's the battery, it isn't! I turn it back on after a few seconds and I'll have full to high battery life.) I'm going to call Monday and figure what the hell is going on! It's almost a brand new computer. I have the m11 if yo'ure wondering.

Both sound like they could possibly have bad AC adapters. If it doesn't get enough power while plugged in it could shut down.

Well, that seems possible..... except for the part where I put that it has plenty of charge on the battery. Isn't that the point of laptops? so you can run it without being plugged in.

These sound more like thermal shutdowns or driver issues to me. Do the systems seem to be running hot or can you hear the fans running?

I thought it might've been that also. I've owned HP computers in the past and they're notorious for having that problem. But my alienware runs cool, I never hear the fan. Maybe the battery is loose or jars loose sometimes. I'm going to contact them and see what they can do.

Juleeb87,
I am having the same issues you are and am not happy about the fact that this computer is but one and a half years old. Please respond back to the list if you hear anything about a solution for these problems. When I was searching the many sites online, I saw something whereby they suggested that the Dell Support folks would have to change something on the computer. Notwithstanding, my warranty has run out and I am disappointed with the customer support.
Thanks,

20 minutes of Crysis 2 and my machines cooking hot, an hour and its creating enough thermal power to run the block.
Serious heat problems which concerns me. My previous Dell's give a "Your system was about to go china syndrome (movie ref) so we shut it down", can anyone confirm Alienware also have this ? if they do, then you can rule out the thermal trip :)

Hi! I'm happy to say that Dell support fix the problem. Yes I spent some time on the phone but after 2 weeks they come and change the charger and the main board and now it's working fine. I hope it's not going to make problem again. If you have this problem check the light on the charger, if the light turn off this mean that the charger is not working properly.

I found out what the problem is with my stupid computer. It must be the harddrive or something. When I unplug it, I usually lift it off where it sits and it shuts off. Then I realized it was shutting off when I lift it. If you raise your laptop up too fast while it's on, it'll just completely shut off. I'm guessing it has something to do with the hard drive getting off kilter. But that's what's wrong with my stupid machine. I'm going to call Dell someday to let them know I'm having problems with it.

Juleeb, that sounds like it could be the free fall sensor problem. Have you tried turning the sensor off and then lifting the thing and seeing what happens?

I turned off that lift sensor and it still seems to die when it goes into sleep mode and I bring it out by moving the mousepad and then picking it up. I really don't understand it. To make this whole stupid ordeal even worse, I didn't contact dell about the problem because I couldn't exactly figure out what was wrong. But now, one month almost to the day that my warranty expires, the <ADMIN NOTE: Profanity removed as per TOU> thing won't run unless the power cord is on!!!!!!!!!!! I know what you all might be thinking, something with the battery. The battery shows it's at 90some percent and charging!!!!!!!! I really don't understand. Any ideas?
