CPU running a little too hot
Am running Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3820 CPU @ 3.60GHz Alienware auroa R4 and when i first boot with my cpu temps are between 38-45.
When i start playing a game they shoot up to 55-65 and then after that idling goes to 45-50. i thought these were a bit high being it liquid cool and reading other people were getting 30 degrees idling and 40 when playing a game. is there any reason for this? i checked my cpu by taking the pump off and i did notice quite a bit of thermal paste, like someone spreaded it on as apposed to using the pea method. Can i do anything about this, or are the temps normal and not worth the hassle?

Silentmistake,
Since you are versed in removing the hardware, it would be wise to go ahead and clean the thermal paste off of both the CPU and the heatsink using qtips and isopropyl alcohol. Then apply Arctic Silver or some other reputable thermal paste.

Definitely your system temperatures are fine, however if want to double check if it’s overheating you could follow the steps on this article.
