Computer starting up, inside lights on, outside lights off, won't start up on screen.

Just recently had problems with my computer.  I tried starting it up this morning and the fans kick on and the lights inside the case kick on, but the outside lights are off and the screen shows no connection with my computer.  I'm not getting any beeping when I start up but I don't feel comfortable enough with my knowledge of hardware to start messing around on the inside with out a few pointers.  so please if anyone knows anything I would appreciate your help.

My computer is an alienware 51 ALX.

What problem did it have before?

Well I turned it off for the night and my fans started going crazy and it wouldn't shut down even when i held down the button so I was forced to unplug it while it was on.  After that the current problems started.

Unplug it and remove the memory, gpu and any other expansion cards you may have in it. Take it all out. Then reset the CMOS jumper. Take the 24-pin power connector on the mobo off and then plug it back in. You may want to do this for anything else you see. It is called reseating the connections.

Look around inside the case for anything that could have come loose. Down in the bottom front of the case is the MIO board. Make sure you check that each wire is connnected. Reseat them too.

After you reset the jumper and check all the cables plug it back in and turn on the computer. It won't run without anything in it but do it anyway. It should beep then.

Shut it off and put everything back in it then turn it on and see what happens.

If it still won't start then you have just ruled out a bad connection.

hmmm... this is going to be a tough one.

Are you still under warranty? If so it is time to call Dell. I am thinking the MIO board or maybe the mobo. Whatever it is it's dead and needs to be replaced. Can't really trouble shoot it anymore over chat.

I would replace the MIO first. Double check all the connections on it just to be safe.
