Hi,
The NVidia GeForce GTX 960 is the highest NVidia GPU upgrade that we can support for the Alienware X51 R2. We cannot confirm if the GTX 970 will run properly with this system. Some users have tried this upgrade, I found this thread as an example.

Hi,
The GTX 960 is the highest GPU option that we can support with this system. Anything higher than that would be a non-validated GPU upgrade for us. The recommended PSU for this upgrade would be the 330W adapter.
