Have I lost my factory overclocking?
OK, in a not to bright move I went into the BIOS to have a look around something I am not to experienced at, when I exited the BIOS I selected the "Default Optimal Settings" So did I delete the factory overclock settings ? in another not to bright move I didn't write down the original settings before I did this, my system was to be overclocked to 3.9GHz is there a way to check and see if my system is still overclocked to 3.9GHz?

* Open the Device Manager (Press the Windows key and the Pause-Break key, Click the Hardware tab and the Device Manager button)
* Expand Processors. What do you see?

Under Processors I see " Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930K CPU @ 3.2GHz " this is repeated 12 times

What does it read in the Bios for the CPU?

I followed the " Overclocking the Aurora R4 Automatically " steps for as listed in my BIOS " Load Level 1 OC " and " Load level 2 OC " selecting yes for each one. Under Processors in Device Manger it still reads " Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930 CPU @ 3.2GHz " is this ok or should it read CPU @ 3.9GHz ?

In the BIOS on the MAIN page under CPU Information it reads " Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3930 CPU @ 3.2 GHz

I thought it should read 3.9. Another R4 owner will have to chime in with step by step instructions. Or, you can contact Alienware Support for help.

No worries bud, I went through the same thing and i found out it is an automatic overclocking system that kicks in whenever you are using your machine... When you pump up a game to Ultra settings or are using multiple programs at once. Video editing at HD levels.
However you are pushing your machine the intel i7 turbo boost chip technology kicks in whenever it is needed.
And that is why we cannot alter the overclocking or why the system does not show the overclocking state of (3.9Ghz)
(personaly i have a hate/love feeling towards this)
So i found how to monitor the overclocking technology... Since the Bios or System Manager does not give us readings on it.
First you need to go to - http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?DwnldID=19105
Download the virtual monitor, install and now you can see your overclocking kicking in any time you stress your machine.
So to your Question about deleting overclocking settings.... No you did not! because you cant!
Just make sure UNDER the "Advance" tab - Frequency/Voltage Control - Load Level OS settings.
You might have 2 levels or 3 levels just make sure all are set on "YES"
